MPulse (Michigan) Summer Program 2013

My daughter is a junior and was waitlisted for 2013…ugh…so now…what are her chances? How long is this list?

Hi all:

I have seen rejections and wait list people post – but no acceptances! My D has not heard anything yet – is this a good sign? Or, am I just overly hopeful.

The waiting is killing us!

No luck. My sophomore D was not accepted. Also, we ended up not hearing on the 1st and had to call on Monday morning. Oh well, there is always next year! Congrats to all who were accepted.

I have to say one of the most talented rising seniors at our school did not get in. I’m stunned, so maybe pushing experience over passion wasn’t such a good idea. Good luck next year.

“Pushing experience over passion” not sure what this means. It is an interesting comment and I am genuinely interested in the import. Please explain. (pm me if you prefer)

As in, omg, if this kid didn’t get in, nobody will. She has “tons” of experience, wth? That’s what I mean. My d didn’t even apply there thinking that there was no way she would get in, so she went to a lesser known, but still top ten program. Other than proofing her personal statement, I did nothing in guiding her. She got right in to her program, and her statement was ALL about passion, although I was a little worried it was maybe a little to dreamy. But what do I know. She has the pipes and the acting experience, her resume speaks for itself. I think, as a mother, the mistake people make is pushing experience in the program directors faces. In the situation I speak of, genuine passion beat out technical experience. Not wanting to offend anyone by the way.

No offense taken here. Congrats to your d in getting accepted to her program. I think it is difficult to know however why one person is accepted at one program and a different person is rejected from an entirely different program. May have absolutely nothing to do with passion or experience.

did anyone do mPulse last summer who can comment on the no cell phones/ no computer policy?
