Anyone know how students can acquire MS Office suite on campus, for MAC? Free to download? Or, is purchase required? If so, is there a discount beyond the normal Apple discount for students?

You can get it really cheap ($20/year for 4 years) from here: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-University-Subscription-Validation-Required/dp/B00B766VZE or you can google if you prefer to buy directly from Microsoft (same price and delivery). I think it’s a great deal.

If you don’t want to spend any money then https://www.openoffice.org/ is a great alternative. Additionally there’s open labs on campus 24/7, but I think it’s worth it to buy the Office 365.

Edit: I like the 365 subscription over paying more ($80-$200) every few years because you’re always up-to-date and it’s likely there’ll be another major version of Office in the next few years (esp if the Windows 9 rumors are true). I wouldn’t want to be stuck on Office 2011 for Mac.

You can get the whole Office package in the bookstore for around $125 outright. I agree with the above comment that it’s worth it to just buy a copy of the thing outright rather than have to worry about year to year licensing issues. FWIW I’m pretty sure that the $125 includes ~3 licenses so you could split it with a friend or your parents if necessary.
