@Eeeee127 4.333 weighted and 32. I thought the interview went pretty good. When I get chance, I’ll asked about the numbers regarding admissions.
ok cuz i have a 3.99 gpa and 34 act and didnt get in…
@Eeeee127 Those are some impressive stats, but once you get a call for an interview, your GPA and test scores aren’t looked at all. They really base their decisions on how you performed in the interview. This means how you showed your interest in the program and what extra curricular activities you have done in the past that represent what you want in the future. What were your extra curricular activities?
@punnettsquare I’m involved in hosa whciu msu com sponsors and I talked a lot about that and how I visited msucom for msu hosa day last fall and learned a lot about the msu com students and professors and even named then and I prepared a lot and said why I loved osteopathic medicine and even Ms Handley said she could tell I was passionate about do but I was sick during the interview and was coughing and stuttering and also I was waiting outside because I thought they were gonna call us in so even though I got there 20 min early but walked into the interview like 10 seconds late with another girl and I hated that it was a group interview
Did u guys apply to other Bs/MD programs and which one did you prepare a lot for the interview and were u accepted to another other direct med program
I’m from out of state and got accepted into the program. I really love the school but am hesitant because it’s not exactly guaranteed acceptance into msucom. Have you heard of anyone that was in omsp and didnt get into msucom? even if they met all the requirements like the 3.5 gpa?
please respond! I’m very stressed about college decisions lol
@Eeeee127 I applied to the BS/DO program at IIT in chicago and got in there as well. The interview at both places were group interviews which was a little intimidating but I made sure to seem very confident and in control even though I was quite nervous. I think they try to make it seem casual so I tried to talk a lot and be easy going with everyone as I asked and answered questions. My advice would be to apply to as many DO programs as you can no matter how small or unknown the school is because you could get really good scholarships. Honestly for medicine, it doesn’t matter where you go to school as long as you get the degree.
@october4087 msu com is super expensive out of state $88,000 a year…and everyone in omsp has gotten into msu com. also msu com’s ranking dropped from 15 to 33 this year in primary care…doesnt medical school name matter for competitive residency placements like dermatology? i heard that there arent enough residency spots for the medical school students.
yeah I see your point. I’ve just heard different opinions from different people. In that case since msu is a bigger name than iit, would you recommend me choosing msu. I’m really conflicted about it because iit is a lot cheaper
@october4087 msu com is def not worth the out of state tuition of $88,000 a year. if i were oos i wouldnt even have applied to msu omsp. its good price for in state students but not for out of state. im not really sure about iit? in my opinion, msu omsp is not good if you are out of state since the tuition for their med school is sooooo expensive. i would recommend iit since its prob half the price and med school debt is valready so high. msu com isnt the best med school u only need a 28 mcat so it doesnt really have much of a bigger name than iit in the medical field…if u were comparing umich med school and iit that would be a different story. also, if you are good enough to get into a bs/do program, then you are good enough to go traditional undergrad route and get into even better med schools. just my opinion but definitely ask other medical school students/doctors.
