<p>D2 is applying to both schools. We have visited IU, not MSU. I expect she will get in to both. Could you offer insight to similarities and differences. She will go in undecided.

<p>MSU has an ag school and an engine school. IU has neither.
Both campuses a large Big Ten campus with a lot of school spirit.
IU attracts a larger percent of out of state students where MSU has a higher percentage of in-state students.
Both schools have been greek life and active social life.
IU is farther south so winters are not quite as harsh as MSU.
MSU is known for its study abroad program.
IU has a more highly regarded business school and music school program.
MSU is probably more highly regarded in applied sciences - good for pre-med.
IU is better recognized for liberal arts (especially in social sciences).
MSU has very strong residential college programs such as James Madison, Lyman Briggs and RCAH - IU has a broad array of living learning centers.
MSU has unique programs in supply chain management, hospitality management and packaging that are sought after by employers.
IU has a well known journalism program.
Academic standards are comparable - if you can get into one you are likely to get into the other.</p>
