<p>@ButterflyFX, my S’ status on the Montclair portal also changed to “YES MUTR” as of 2/20, but we haven’t received confirmation of that acceptance in the mail yet (we’re on the East Coast). This was after his prior status stated “NO THAC” which I was told by Admissions meant he had not been accepted to the Acting major…but he only applied for MT, and had even told them at the audition that he didn’t want to be considered for Acting if he were not accepted for MT! I called them last week to inquire about the mysterious “rejection” from Acting, so they checked the list of MT acceptances and found him on that list. The “YES MUTR” status was added online shortly after that. They also said he could ignore the letter he’d be receiving telling that him that he had been accepted to the school but had “not been admitted to the major of [his] choice”, since that was related to the Acting rejection! </p>

<p>MTMajorCook we were not surprised by CCM he had the early decision date and it was in the middle of an ice storm situation so flights were running late. Just wasnt a good experience and he said he didnt do well on the dance so we werent shocked. I thought for sure he was in at Baldwin by the comments he got. You cant figure anything out at all. He tries to replay what they say to him after, if they have him do more or not and figure it out and honestly you cant tell at all. Thanks everyone for sharing. This really helps.</p>
<p>I know it’s easy when nerves are fried to get frustrated, but try not to let some human error color your whole opinion about a program. Just saying. Montclair is a fabulous program.</p>
<p>I just saw a couple of Montclair grads in the national tour of Bring It On – they were fabulous! </p>

<p>No worries, @Calliene, it’s just part of this whole crazy process, and we don’t hold it against Montclair at all! A confusing acceptance is way better than a rejection any day!</p>

<p>This is why I love schools that make phone calls! Makes the kids feel so special. My D (who is a junior) was present when her friend got an acceptance call (they were at a performance!) and shared in her joy (and tears of joy) along with the entire cast and crew. </p>
<p>D got the call from Drake yesterday while in the hallway between classes. Our S (sophomore) just happened to be walking by her at exactly the same moment. She actually let him give her a hug! I wish the school had cameras in the halls - I’d request a copy of the event!</p>
<p>Mike - That is so sweet ! Montclair is a great program from all I know and Calliene, I would not know anything about the school if it hadn’t been for your great posts. I’m disappointed that S wasn’t accepted, and based on the info about calls going out yesterday for another school, it would appear another rejection is in the works. So now my super confident son is wavering a bit. He doesn’t read CC or the Facebook threads, and he told me this morning that he will let me know when he hears something, in other words, I’m to stop giving updates about notifications that I learn here. Good to know. </p>
<p>LOL. Thanks, guys. And based on our experience the “phone call” acceptances are great if you really want to go there, but awkward if it is not your first (or second) choice. Be prepared.</p>

<p>Do you think it matters that my D’s portal for Montclair still shows that her audition is hasn’t’ been received? Do you think it just means they haven’t updated since Unifieds?</p>
<p>Bisouu - It has been mentioned on a thread somewhere on this forum that the MT and Acting BFA programs are very separate. Don’t know if that is accurate, but considering most of the MT kids mentioned on this thread were “rejected” from Acting, even if they said they didn’t want that tract, it could be the real picking and choosing is happening now. As they say, no news is good news.</p>

<p>Bisouu, I don’t think it could hurt to call Montclair just to ask. Just say you want to make sure there hasn’t been a glitch since Montclair is so high on D’s list, blah blah. </p>
<p>I am positive when it says they don’t have audition it is because the theater department has to send results to admissions. From our experience, Montclair takes a while to update status showing audition received.</p>
