Wow 18 out of 25 by January.

Yeah, we were a bit taken aback. Might not have spent the money to do that one had we known that in advance.

I see someone got an acceptance letter today on the BW page, so maybe they’re finished with decisions early.

I am worried about same thing with Wright State… has anyone heard when the next round of acceptances go out? I know those who auditioned before the Christmas Break have heard but my daughter auditioned on 2/1 (right before Unifieds) so I was curious if anyone has heard anything. Thanks!

@AsstToTheMT, I was at the same BW audition date and I don’t recall hearing that 18 had already been accepted for MT. Were they maybe talking about Acting and MT combined? I’d think we’d have received confirmation of that many acceptances here on CC, The Unified, and other MT-related groups if that many kids had already received a “yes” from BW. I’ve only heard about a couple of on-the-spot acceptances.

@maMTma I just got clarification (I wasn’t there). My daughter said that she was the one who heard the number 18–it wasn’t in the parent meeting. D said that after the dance call, the adjudicators did a group Q&A with all the kids, and one of the kids asked if any offers had been made already. They said that 18 offers had been made so far.

My husband learned from the parent meeting that they intend to send out 25 total offers. So I put the two pieces of information together.

There is not an Acting program that requires an audition at BW, so I don’t think the 18 would be a combination of anything.

As far as not hearing much on it, I agree. Maybe because it’s a BM program rather than a BFA? There may be a different forum for Music–if there is, I haven’t checked there.

Edited to add: Of course there is the chance that my D misheard. If so, our sincere apologies! Perhaps others who might have been there can chime in.

Thanks for the clarification, @AsstToTheMT! I’ll have to ask my son if he recalls the same comment…although it was so long ago, or seems that way now! It seems odd to me that any MT program would put so many eggs in the Early application basket when there are still so many auditionees to be seen in the spring.

I agree wholeheartedly!

The wait is over for Rider candidates! Check your MyRider portal for Admission Decision! D got in to BFA MT! She also got snail mail acceptance letter from Montclair State yesterday! Best of luck to everyone - it is crunch time! Keep breathing…

@ashleybashley Did your D’s portal change for Montclair?

I hadn’t even thought to check, but I just checked the WESS portal on Montclair’s website, and I did not see anything that indicates a decision/change of status. The snail letter D received was from Clay James, MT Dept. Chair, not from the Admissions Office. A close friend of my D’s was also accepted and received a letter on the same day, but her letter was different and it was sent by the Admissions Office, not the MT Dept. Nevertheless, her letter clearly stated that she had been “accepted to the BFA MT program”. I believe both offices are sending out letters at the same time, but not always in the same order of applicants, so it gets confusing. My point is that they are doing some each day it seems, so keep the faith! And keep breathing!

We were at the BW audition on 2/8 and what I recall is them saying they would probably send 25 (or low 20s, something like that) to yield a class of about 18. I don’t recall them saying how many might have been sent already.

Baldwin Wallace – Offers: sent via snail mail by 3/20. Rejections: Same time as wait list and acceptance offers. Financial Aid notifications 2 weeks later.

Ball State University – Offers are extended by March 1st. Waiting list students selected the week following. All students accepted and/or on waiting list will be called directly and receive a snail mail letter. Rejections are sent out on a rolling basis. Scholarships are determined by the middle of March.

Boston Conservatory – Offers: late March to early April. Rejections: ? Financial Aid notification: ?

Carnegie Mellon – They call the kids who are accepted in the 3rd week in March. Everyone else finds out via snail mail that they’ve been rejected.

CCM - this year seems to be different than previous. Online status updated first, followed up by snail mail. Accepted students receive an email from Aubrey Berg shortly after online status is updated. (comment) My S’s online status is unchanged, despite having received an acceptance email from Aubrey Berg last week Rejections have been sent a week or 2 after audition. A few offers made this year with the majority still at no decision at this time. Later update: Looks like several students who had heard nothing previously, received “no admission at this time” updates via Check my Status on last Friday of February, 2/28, this year.

Coastal Carolina – Decisions: Rolling. Some offers/rejections sent after the November on campus auditions; most students deferred. Deferred students and all those who audition in the spring (on campus or Chicago) are notified in Mid-March- approximately 2 weeks after our final on-campus audition. Typically these notifications are sent via email from Department Chair, Ken Martin, but on occasion a phone call is made. You must be accepted into the university before you are offered a spot in the program. Financial aid notification: Performing arts scholarships are sent with the offer. Academic scholarships are separate.

Emerson – Decision: by Apr 1 via application portal at 1pm EST.

Indiana – MId to late March

Ithaca – Rejections: beginning mid Feb. Most offers come later. Acceptances posted on MyIthaca account, starting in late February and continuing in unpredictable pattern through March; rejections seemed to be communicated by USPS and then disabling the student’s MyIthaca account. Like last year, some acceptances are being received within a few weeks after audition, via snail mail. “No decisions until auditions are finished” stated by adjudicator (though as of 2/18 there appear to be a couple of acceptances per The Unifieds)

James Madison University: Acceptance to university on admissions portal; official letter from theater/MT program arrived 1-2 days later; my son also received an e-mail from program director telling him he would be getting an acceptance letter from the theater department. Students admitted to the university EA will hear whether or not they have also been admitted to the program in early March. Students admitted to the university RD will hear whether or not they have also been admitted to the program shortly after they find out they are accepted academically to the university… usually by April 1. All academically admitted students to the university will receive a letter from the program. Some students admitted to the program may also receive an email notification or a phone call. Students who are not admitted academically to the university will not hear from the program whether or not they would have been admitted.

Marymount – snail mail, goes out in waves starting now (mid-Feb)

Montclair – rolling. Decisions about 3 weeks after audition. Apparently Montclair automatically considers MT applicants (some? all?) for their Acting program/major as well, and posts the Acting decision separately on the CheckMyStatus page from the MT decision, then follows up each online status with a snail mail confirmation.

NYU/Tisch – Decisions by Apr 1st after 5pm via email (per website). 2 weeks later for which program.

Otterbein–The arts admissions coordinator calls accepted students directly on their cell phones. Last year it was on March 13th. Official letter including scholarship information came a few days later. Not sure about notification for waitlist–those might get phone calls too?–rejections, I believe, come by mail.

Pace – Academic acceptances: Rolling. MT acceptances: by Mar 30 via phone call but Amy said they hoped for mid-March. MT Rejections: mid-late March via email. Scholarships offered with academic acceptance. Financial aid: ?

Penn State – Decisions: they have a team “decision Sunday” in mid-March the Sunday after the last audition, which this year is Sat, Feb 22. with acceptance notifications going out that week (via ?). Rejections for MT program from Chicago Unifieds have come via online portal + they disable PSU portal log in. Rejections have also come via snail mail dated 4 days after NY Unifieds audition. The decision meeting has been the day after the last on campus audition in years past. Decisions are sent to the Admissions office the Monday after the decision meeting and Admissions sends out snail mail acceptances on Tuesday. The 12 to 14 accepted will usually receive them by the end of that week. Of course, this is not written in stone and I have no inside info - just going by what has happened the last 4 years. This year when my D was filling out her paperwork at the door they also got her to put her number on the sheet with a list of available times to call the number. The director said that would be used for acceptances but that emails could also be used. UPDATE: as of 2/19, myPenn application status portal changed to indicate application is being reviewed and a decision will be coming in the near future (speculations are for late Feb)

Point Park - Academic decisions are rolling. MT decisions 2 or 3 times per year via snail mail. This year it was end of January. Remaining decisions to be sent in two batches: one after their meeting on March 5 and the second after their meeting on March 15. Scholarships are sent with decisions

Rider - Seems to be rolling admissions… Quite a few students accepted/rejected already, to both acting and MT. Notification made via snail mail letter a few weeks after the audition date.

Roosevelt CCPA – Decisions: sent by mid-March via email. (decisions came late March last year)

Shenandoah – One - two weeks after audition

Syracuse – Decisions: begin early March via email

University of Michigan – Acceptances late Feb (according to some old notes from spring 2013 campus visit)

University of the Arts – rolling. Decisions about 3 weeks after audition.

Webster – last week of March for acceptances and rejections

Wright State - Rolling admissions - decisions by snail mail approx 2 weeks after audition

Baldwin Wallace – Offers: sent via snail mail by 3/20. Rejections: Same time as wait list and acceptance offers. Financial Aid notifications 2 weeks later. At least one acceptance reported on 2/28 from a 2014 audition date.

In the past, offers came via email with a link to click, which reveals the acceptance letter. It seems not all acceptances came in one batch, but over a few days. Rejections: ? Financial Aid notification: ?

Carnegie Mellon – They call the kids who are accepted in the 3rd week in March. Everyone else finds out via snail mail that they’ve been rejected or wait listed. There appears to be a priority wait list and a regular wait list.

Re: Montclair – Confirming what @ashleybashley said above, my S received both acceptance letters within a couple days of each other; I think the short Admissions letter actually came after the longer letter from Clay James but there’s no date/postmark on the one from the MT department so I could be wrong about the order. Both letters were after the portal changed to “YES MUTR” (and after several confusing portal experiences I’ve already described here and in other Montclair-related threads).

@ashleybashley - my D received 2 letters from Montclair about 2 days apart. The first was her acceptance as a “BFA freshman class with a major in Musical Theatre” this was from Clay James.

The 2nd letter was from admissions reaffirming academic acceptance AND this time confirming her major as “Musical Theatre” . She had already been accepted in early January as Undeclared with audition pending.

Is anyone else who auditioned at Point Park at the Unifieds in Chicago still waiting for a decision? It’s been crickets for quite some time with acceptances/rejections.

Son auditioned in Chicago but, the updated notification list above now states there will be two waves, one after March 5th and one after March 15th. While I’m glad son will hear from most of the schools soon, I’m dreading the possibility of a wave of “No” :(

I’m right there with you @entertainersmom. As soon as I woke up today & realized it was March, I realized the next 32 days will be pivotal in my D’s future. I know I’m not alone when I say that I can’t wait for this part to be over.

I’ve heard of one rejection letter from Emerson received today in the mail. Audition was NYC Unifieds.

What about Pace? Has anyone received anything yet? The’ portal says “A decision has been made and your official decision letter has been mailed to you.” which doesn’t sound too encouraging if they make personal phone calls to accepted applicants as in previous years… Too bad if it’s a “no” because Pace’s financial aid package is the first complete one we’ve received!
