First time poster.
I searched for information about Ohio Unifieds and how it works. I guess I thought it would be a Ohio version of Chicago or NY Unifieds. In 2016 it sounds like it was more of a meet and greet pre-screen process. Now for 2019 there are auditions and a dance call. So will they offer scholarships or acceptances or just recommend highly you set up a campus audition? We are really going there to see one or two schools, so if there are no scholarships or acceptances given, possibly there would be a better use of that weekend. Has anyone received offers from a Ohio Unified? My daughter got two offers from a Nebraska festival, but is this different? Possibly there are other advantages to attending that I am not aware of.
Any thoughts?
Hi @WiscMTDad. My daughter is going to the Unifieds to audition for ONU. We emailed them and they confirmed they will be there and that it will count as an audition vs. a prescreen. I didn’t ask about scholarships. If you find anything out, would love to hear.
FYI, the regional unifieds are different from the national ones in that in the regional auditions you do one 3 minute gig (and sometimes a separate dance call) that counts for all that schools. And if the schools like you, they can call you back. During call backs, some schools will use the work as an actual audition and some will use as a prescreen and/or an opportunity to talk more about their program. I think what counts as an audition will range for different schools, so if you have another school on your list, you may want to contact them directly and see what they say.
Hope this is helpful!
@artandtechmom. Thank you, so helpful. I was just afraid we would drive all the way there for a greet and meet. Even if ONU treats it as an actual audition, then it was worth the trip. Thank you so much. Good luck at your audition!
