MT Unifieds in NYC -- Roll Call

Who is going to the Unifieds in New York City this weekend?

How are you getting there?

Where are you staying?

What schools are you auditioning for?

Break a leg, everyone!

Son and I are going.

Flying in from Portland, Maine.

We are staying at the New Yorker.

University at Buffalo, Ball State, Montclair State and Pace

My S and I are going!

Bus to NYC (we live west of Boston)

Staying in an airbnb 1BR apartment we stayed at in August when we came down for some masterclasses; it’s about 4 blocks from Pearl. We had a reservation at the Tryp Hotel on W. 35th in case the airbnb place fell through, but just cancelled it.

Pace on campus Friday, then CMU, Penn State, CCM, and Montclair on the weekend, maybe squeeze in a walk-in or two if time permits.

BAL and merde to everyone, students AND parents!

I’m going! Getting there by train (I live in Long Island). I’m staying with my aunt who lives in Nassau county (I live at the far east end of Suffolk county, so this is a bit easier). I’m auditioning for U of Buffalo, UNCSA, Syracuse, and Depaul. Break legs everyone :)

OOOH, daniellececelia, where from? I never know anyone from Suffolk County. That’s where I grew up. Exit 64 off the LIE!

No, we’re not going to NYC, I just got excited to see someone from Suffolk County! LOL

D and I are going by Metro North (after school, she’s missing enough days next month) - we only live an hour+ away in CT

Staying at the New Yorker (No, H we cannot come home and go back each morning do you not know that our D is NOT a morning person as it is?!)

Syracuse, Penn State, Emerson, U Miami (and maybe a walk in but really there is no time with these blocks the other schools have asked for)

Sorry for the snow out of towners (we got 10+ inches yesterday and more is forecast for Saturday). Bring you warm coats, gloves, boots, etc., it’s gonna be a cold one! Hope everyone makes their flights!!!

D and I are commuting since we live 18 miles outside of Manhattan in a suburb (I work in Manhattan). Auditioning for Pace on campus on Friday, Syracuse, Ithaca, Ball State and Roosevelt CCPA over the weekend and then BOCO on Monday.

I’m going with my mom. We’re from PA, east of philly.
We’re traveling by train.
Staying at the New Yorker!
Auditioning for: Pace, Ithaca, and Carnegie Mellon (all MT).
Hope to meet a lot of you and your spawn lol

Spawn, lol!!

No worries cellomom, the high temp today was 6 degrees with a
wind chill of -11! Looking forward to the balmy NY weather. I don’t think I’ve taken my boots off for two months now, so I’m good to go.

Here’s the big question: How will we all know each other? Secret CC handshake or high sign?

Wouldn’t that be NJ? ;)

My son and I will be going in Friday. Pace Friday afternoon, Ithaca Saturday morning and CCM Sunday afternoon. Staying at intercontinental Friday night. We live an hour outside of NYC in southern CT.

Break a leg this weekend, everyone! Know that their is beauty in the chaos. Unifieds are stressful for schools, parents, and auditionees alike… and everyone can unite over that. Just be yourself, stay calm, and have a blast! Auditioning is about to become your whole life more than likely, so learn to love it now. :)

Also, be sure to do a couple of New Yorky things if you haven’t visited there before. Remember that the Empire State Building is open very late, and it’s great fun to walk past all the velvet ropes because hardly anyone is there at midnight.

Last year I wasn’t expecting it to be so cold, and I bought one of those $4 “pashmina” scarves from a street vender. Every time I wear it I remember that exciting weekend!

alwaysamom, CLOSE, but not quite. i live 10 minutes from titusville, NJ

I will be auditioning at NYC unifieds!
I’m from Winchester, VA, (the town Shenandoah University is in) and my mom and I took a Tripper Bus up, and had a great trip up.
We’re staying at the Wingate by Wydham for the first night, and then switching to the Milford for the rest of the weekend (we had a Groupon for 3 nights at the Milford, but it was cheaper to go Wingate for the first night)
I am auditioning at Emerson, UCLA, (not at Unifieds, but holding auditions in NYC) Hartt, and Montclair! I am hoping to fit in a walk in or two, but I am not really sure how they work, so I’m unsure how to go about doing that.

I can’t wait to hear all the updates! :)

Funny, I’ve been checking the forum today for updates myself! I know a number of people had Pace today! I did get this info…about 40 people were auditioning in the morning session today. There is another one this afternooon. They said about 70% make it through the prescreen.

^Dollhousegirl- sounds like you have a great roster of schools on you audition list! Re: your question about walk-ins: there will be desks set up in front of each rehearsal room at Pearl and Ripley-GrIer studios where Unifieds are held (is it the same this year)? You can walk right up and ask if they are accepting walk-ins and ask to be added to the list. Have extra head shots, resumes, and a check for the audition fee (for some). Do your research ahead of time to know something about the program so you will have some pertinent questions to ask and also to know what their particular requirements are in terms of monologue length and type, song selections, etc.
