exactly filmxoxo17, why does everything have to be about race?

and vperricone, common and talib kweli aren't r&b. go listen and educate yourself before you critisize something.

are you just joking about the "sounds like a plan to me" comment. i hope so, b/c if not you can just move to antarctica. i here its all white year round.

No I was not joking

I'm trying to figure out if you're a troll or not, but I don't think you are, which is the scary part, considering the blatant spelling mistakes and various bigoted comments. :). You would think you would be a little more sensitive about race and discrimination due to the fact that you live in the Bronx. ;)

Trolls have computers under bridges.

News to me.

who descriminated against my people. maybe a Long time ago, before blacks were brought to America, Northern Europeans, treated Italians like trash, same happened from the Italian to the irish when they immagrated.

anyhow, this discussion has run its course.

The VMAs just sucked period. Like everything else in the world, it's steadily going downhill and gets worse every year.

And as to all of these racial comments here, I don't get why there's so much concern over what's "black" and what's "white". If anything, the VMAs were pretty equal opportunity for all music genres and the race most stereotypically associated with them. I don't think any "black" awards shows would allow the likes of Green Day, The Killers, My Chemicial Romance, and Coldplay onto their stage, let alone through their doors...

sure has run its course. and aren't italians all in the mafia and shoot a whole bunch of people, including each other? i'd be scary having them in office.

see how racism sounds. not to good. and the "trolls have computers" comment is pretty lame. whether you are a troll or not, i doubt anyone can take you seriously.

sounds great. as an Italian American, I enjoy the whole mafia image.

But il always see a Jewish doctor

right. you need a life.

I'd like to distance myself from this conversation, because Vperricone isn't worth talking to and my remarks have been assumed to have a racist tinge to them, which is absolutely not how I intended them, but let me just clarify.

My opinion was not that there were too many Hispanic acts performing. I personally didn't enjoy any of them except Shakira, but I know many people do or MTV wouldn't be able to put them on the show, because no one would watch. My complaint was simply that the abundance of Hispanic acts seemed forced, as if MTV was trying to squeeze in as many as possible, and it threw off the pace of the show, and also took attention away from the awards themselves, not that anyone cares about those, but still.

That was all I was trying to say, and that's the last thing I'm going to say on this topic.

The fact that there is a thread here angry that black people are moving on up and becoming rich and famous and you white, rock- head-banging- pot smoking lunatics are angry with that is ABSOUTELY RIDICULOUS! RACISTS!

Someone lock this thread.

Yes, please.

sammgc68,

thanks for explaining yourself. i understand it did seem forced, but remember that the awards are also in Miami, where there isn't exactly a lack of puerto ricans, cubans, or dominicans. and i'm not sure if you know this, but MANY MANY hip hop artists have collaborated with those three reggueton artists (tego calderon, don omar, and daddy yankee) and many more. fat joe, nore, nina sky, the game, christina milian, usher, ludacris, and sean paul are some of the few that have collaborated with reggueton artists. so it wasn't like they randomly showed up. they are definetely friends of many american artists there.

anyway, diddy hosting it was pretty whack. i didn't enjoy the little side acts like his dancing and that pathetic comedian. that was horrible. i think the show should have just been the "pre-show" and the performances afterward. noone cares about the awards, they don't mean anything. it's no where near a grammy or oscar or anything. it's just another random award show mtv puts on to appeal to younger audiences and get more ratings. it's all about the money.

but that's no excuse for diddy's annoying over the top routines.

oh. my. god. i loved that comedian. it was that much funnier bc no one else laughed. come on, the superman t shirt comment was funny.

umm no it wasn't. it was funny to see the faces the crowd and artists were making. they were like "who is this?". haha. i was laughing at the sheer crap it was. john legends face was hilarious when the comedian said the joke about the kids or whatever. and the dude from the black eyed peas just had this look of boredom on his face. it was priceless.

they should've gotten dave chappelle.

considering green day won like, every major award, i dont think that it's "all about hip-hop". how stupid.

I watched this just then and it was.. ok.. But I'm more of the acadamy awards type of person..

Diddy sucked. As greendayfan said, he seemed up himself.. He made sure that he was the REAL star of the show (well he was.. but you know..?) like - kayne, my best friend, i love you.. - you know? Like mostly everything he said/did was personal, the 'diddy fashion competition', etc.. sorry I don't really know how to explain this properly.

The comedian was very lame. If he was a lot lamer, he would've been a bit funny i guess (like napolean d). I felt a bit bad for him.

The fashion competition was stupid. I thought Gwen looked awful. I hate animal prints! I've never really liked Snoop but he looked ok i guess.

I liked the killers, coldplay and greenday performances.
I hated that R kelly one sooo much.
Mariah was baaaad.. Live performances really show the truth. Kelly clarkson was ok, a bit shouty but atleast she made the ending exciting.
The g-unit people, my chem romance, shakira were ok.
I can't remember the rest.

Throughout the first third of the show, I thought the show was a bit african american oriented. When that (white) old guy (from the killers and mariah carey's video clips) came on, I was like 'whoa, what a change of colour' It kinda seemed like, he didn't fit in. Like, Johnny Knoxville..

Hahahhaha that old guy from the killers/mariah carey's vid clip!! He was like 'advertising' his son's album! Giving his son's website thingee and such lol.

And jessica simpson, what were you wearing!? Eva Longoria looked sexy! But jesicca just looked slutty and awful. Ashlee has such a better look.

Mariah was baaaad.. Live performances really show the truth. Kelly clarkson was ok, a bit shouty but atleast she made the ending exciting.

mariah is actually known for being amazing during live performances (this is really what solidified her diva status). she set records for the highest notes ever recorded in history during her live performances. she was fine in shake it off, but i think the fast remix version of we belong together just...wasnt good. you have to also keep in mind that singing outdoors changes the voice a lotl.

i dont know why kelly clarkson was shouty but usually she isnt either.

I dont get that song...Why does she sing so fast? what is she a rapper? Damn. LOL!
