Muhlenberg

It's true that first year students do not take acting classes in their first year. This was a concern for my daughter, also, however Muhlenberg allowed her numerous opportunities to exercise her acting muscles. Students do not declare a major until their sophomore year.

Following is her academic schedule for the Fall and Spring of freshman year:

Fall:
French Intermediate I
Beginning Ballet
British Writers
Theatre & Society
Stagecraft: Aesthetics and Lighting
Voice Lessons

Spring:
French Intermediate II
Beginning Jazz
First Year Seminar
Contemporary Cinema
Buddhist Traditions
Opera Workshop
Voice Lessons

All students may audition for all productions and last fall my daughter auditioned for five productions, received call backs for three and was cast in a mainstage production.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Freshmen take Theatre & Society (like a theatre history course, basically), and can take Stagecraft: Aesthetics & Lighting and either Stagecraft: Scenic Techniques or Stagecraft: Costume Techniques (which I am currently in and love!). And yeah, freshmen are encouraged to audition for everything and a lot of freshmen get cast. I'm not sure what the reasoning is for no acting classes till sophomore year, though... I'm sure I knew at one point... I'll find out.

Muhlenberg RD decisions go out this week. Good luck to everyone!

My D loves it there. Feel free to email me with questions, or to hear more about her experiences there this year. I prefer not to post details on a public forum.

BrownSugar there is a discussion about Muhlenberg in a thread "Help with PA Schools".

My D is a senior at 'berg, but you might be able to share with the parents, some more "current" information.

Look for the thread in the Parents Discussion Forum. I realize you don't want to have public conversations, so you could assist them via private messages.

PS to Music/ Theatre Arts Majors---- GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! 'berg is a stellar choice.

How do you know that Muhlenberg's letters are going out this week?

Someone in the know posted the information that RD letters are supposed to go out this week on another thread.

Has anybody received an acceptance letter? So far, my son has received nothing from Muhlenberg. However, since he received a Tisch acceptance, the smile hasn't left his face!

Mail came already today--nothing from Muhlenberg! However, got a response from Ithaca. My D did not get into their acting program, but was accepted into the Park School of Comunications. Not her 1st choice, but a very nice consolation.

Just called them... They are sending them out April 1..... UHHHGG!

Thanks Mamamia for sharing that info....I was starting to worry YET AGAIN since we hadn't heard anything. I know that "no news is good news", but, in this business, my D and I fear the worst! I can breath again!

My son received his acceptance letter today. It did not include a financial aid package. It said that would come later.

Did you apply early or regular decision?

He applied regular decision.

My D's letter came-she is in school right now, but it has a big "YOU'RE IN" on the front, so I guess it's great news! yeah KT!!!!!! As mrsmis13 said to me a little earlier to me, I will extend to all of you still waiting--BREAK A LEG!!!!! with crossed fingers and toes!

Congrats to all !!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to all! I hope to be getting one of these envelopes within the next few days.. I live in Arkansas and the USPS is notoriously unpredictable here!

break a leg Georgeanne!

My s got into Muhlenberg this afternoon! Hoping the best for all!

Quite a number of applicants (non MT) are posting in the Muhlenberg thread that letters are arriving.

Congrats to all who've been accepted. We're anxiously awaiting our news here in Illinois. Has anyone heard of rejections yet, or do those follow later? I will have no fingernails left by the time this process is over. My D is a nervous wreck, too. It doesn't help that she is on a 2 week spring break this week and next. The waiting would be a little easier if she was deep in rehearsal for a play!
