<p>"Dear,
Greetings from Eagle Rock!<br>
Because you have applied to Occidental College, you have been selected
to participate in our Multicultural Visit Program, or MVP. We know
that many seniors decide on their college of choice before they receive
all of their letters of admission, so we are inviting competitive
applicants to visit our campus here in Los Angeles in April to see what makes
Oxy unique.<br>
If you reside more than 150 miles from the Occidental campus, the
College will provide all transportation costs, arrange for lodging with a
current student, and provide all meals. If you reside within driving
distance of the campus (less than 150 miles), the College will arrange for
lodging with a current student as well as providing all meals. As an
MVP participant, you will have a chance to stay overnight in Pauley Hall
(Oxy's multicultural hall), eat in the Marketplace (our dinning
facility), visit classes, attend Oxy events and meet other students and
faculty on campus. The three weekends are designed in conjunction with our normal spring events that will give you access to Oxy's academic
resources, students, and the Los Angeles area. Each weekend will offer
similar events, so no matter which weekend you choose you will have a
thorough and engaging experience. However each weekend will have a unique Friday afternoon Los Angeles excursion."</p>
<p>Maybe it's just for minority students. I can't wait to go.</p>
<p>I'm going. Anyone else? What weekend did you choose?</p>
<p>sounds interesting- was it an email or snail mail?</p>
<p>It was an email.</p>
<p>I'll probably go on the April 12th weekend since we have spring break that week. What about you?</p>
<p>I'm going to the third week; LA and the Sciences. My spring break starts this week for the next two weeks, so when i go i'll be missing some school. </p>
<p>bje - have you ever visited oxy before?</p>
<p>yeah, I got to visit it on June, but since only the summer school students were there I didn't get the feel for how the college life is, but I've heard that its relaxed and liberal. I didn't really pay much attention to the campus though, becuase at that time I was only considering going to a UC.
Hey, have you by any chance sent your tax forms to Oxy, I know they're due by April 19th, but I'm not sure if I should send them before they've made their admissions decision?</p>
<p>ohhhh awesome. yes, i had sent them in. so is oxy your top choice?</p>
<p>yeah, Oxy is kind of my first choice, but it's all going to depend on how much financial aid I get. If I don't get enough I'll probably just go to UC Davis or Riverside. What about you? what other colleges did you apply to? Another question about the tax forms: about how many pages did you send in, because I don't know if to just send the first two pages of the tax forms, the ones that basically summarize the income, and the W-2 forms; or to send every page on the tax return? Oh, by the way I'm going to go to the third weekend afterall, I figured it would be more beneficial because I'm interested in Biochem.</p>
<p>that's awesome that you're considering oxy at the top too. although i'm not concrete on my decision yet, oxy is still my top three as of right now, with case western reserve and creighton filling in the other two spots. however, i am waiting for three other schools: southern cal, BC, notre dame. </p>
<p>i pretty much sent in all the forms of the taxes because i wouldn't want them to ask for the others if i were to just send the summarization papers. also, include the W-2 forms. </p>
<p>i'm going to the third week also, awesome.</p>
<p>Unless money is an issue go for the LAC, it's much more beneficial when applying to medical school becasue of the professors' recs. Plus, I imagine that western is more difficult, and not as focused on the undergraduates.</p>
