Murphree Hall for freshmen?

So I'm going to be a freshman in the fall, and I'm confused as to if Murphree Hall is open to Freshman?
It says there is a "Murphree Returning Gators Program" at the hall, so I wasn't sure.

if it is open to freshmen, would you recommend it?
I don't really party and I'm not a fan of sharing bathrooms with the whole floor (i'm a brat tbh), so I've had people tell me to stay away from the Broward Area. BUT At the same time, I would like to be around other freshmen so I can meet people/get involved.

any input would be greatly appreciated (:

The entire Murphree Area (including Murphree Hall) is open to freshmen! The Returning Gators Program is for a few students who went through the Truslter Leadership program and are now going into their second year.

Murphree is great! But all the halls in the area do have a communal bathroom/kitchen situation. In Murphree Hall in particular, you are going to share a bathroom with 2 stalls and a shower with about 9 other people on your floor. It’s not that bad, I used to be a “brat” but I have slowly put these things aside as I love living here. :)

Now the only thing about Murphree Hall in particular is that it’s not the most social place as Im living there now and it seems as though no one knows each other. If you want that true first year experience in the Murphree Area, I would suggest 1) Sledd Hall 2) Fletcher Hall 3) Thomas Hall 4) Buckman Hall in that order.

These halls are great as they have the typical freshman setup so you can meet a lot of people but w/o all the craziness that happens in Broward. But, you do have to share a bathroom with more people. To offset this though, there are at least 3 bathrooms with multiple stalls and showers for each floor. Im not sure how many people exactly you share this with, but it’s greater than Murphree. But compared to Broward, Murphree Area is like its fancier brother, with more amenities and such. And there is a sink in each room!

Hope you find this helpful! Any questions you can always PM or post a reply! :)
