What is the Knox County Symphony like?

I believe this is the same group that trains and performs with the Kenyon symphonic group. I guess without them the symphony orchestra might not be possible on campus due to the small numbers of students on campus.

I went to a concert at Parent's weekend several years ago. The weekend was in mid-October which I thought was actually quite early in the season for new students and old players in the symphony to get it together. I think it was offered as a concert for the first year then at Parent's weekend per a parent's request. I am not sure if they still do it every year, because I haven't gotten back for that weekend since.

However, the concert was actually quite good in spite of that fact that they had not had that many rehearsals together. They might have been a little rusty on one of their pieces, but the orchestra director even suggested that they would be. He wanted them to try it anyway. They actually sounded pretty good in that one, too, but were not finished with the piece.

The concert was well attended that day and the players all were quite serious about their playing. They also seemed to be having a good time. They certainly weren't the Boston Pops nor were they mediocre. There were some very good players in the orchestra both young and old. The conductor was quite pleasant as well and explained that some of the older members had been playing for years with the Kenyon players. It seemed like a great group for both young and old.
