Music at Northwestern (outside the Bienen college)

If I am interested in pursuing music (in orchestras and chamber groups) as an extracurricular activity at Northwestern, will there be opportunities to do so even if I attend the Weinberg college?

Yes, there are orchestras and chamber groups of various levels for non-majors. You sign up in the fall.

Anybody know how to join the marching band at NU?

Hey sondosia!

I'm actually in the marching band (we're going to a bowl game just before New Year; completely free, one of the perks of NUMB).

Anyway, to join marching band, I would just e-mail the director at this e-mail address, and explain how you want to join the band; he'll forward you the application.

For singles like me, the package put together by the alum association costs a little over $2000!!

@GoldenBear59 - Thanks for the info, and WOW. I knew NU was going to be in a bowl game this year, but for some reason I didn't realize the band would get to go, too. That's amazing...Damn it, if only I could be a year older and in college already. =)

Yup, I'm in WCAS and actually able to do the music major orchestras (NUCO/NUSO) without being a music major. You just need to audition =]
