Music audition letter

My d auditioned at NU music school last month. NU is her top choice of schools although the audiition seemed to go just so-so. Last week she received a letter from them that is kind of confusing. Does anyone know if this is a form letter to all audiotionees or if this is an encouraging sign that she will be accepted. I have not showed this to her because she would be really upset if she read this and was subsequently rejected.

In brief the letter from the music department stated " I am delighted to hear that you have completed your audition for the Biened School of Music at NU. We have the honor of admitting about 2"000 of the countries finest young musicians to our beautiful campus on teh shores of Lake Michigan. "

The letter then goes on to tell her all about how excellent NU's music school is and "encourages her to research more of the conductors, chamber musicains and music educators she could be working with IF ACCEPTED to Northwestern." It goes on to say "we have a very challenging time ahead as we make our final admissions decision. In the meantime if you have any questions you did not get answered please call us..."

I don't know the answer. The "2000" must be a typo. It's probably 200 instead.

It sounds like a form letter. Are you saying you opened her letter and now aren't showing it to her? Wow! I graduated from NU's music school and I hope she gets in, but if she's going into this business, there will be a lot of rejection. You can't shield her from it. She needs to learn how to deal with it. Just my opinion. I too have a daughter waiting for admission (not to the music school). All the best to you in this stressful time.

If this makes you feel better, I haven't gotten a letter like that and I applied to Bienen. I also live a decent ways away, so it may be in the mail. I wouldn't take it either way. Just wait until they actually release decisions.
