I was accepted at Steinhardt originally with a Media, Culture & Communications major, but what I'm really interested in is its Music Industry programs...

How difficult would it be for me to switch into that major before starting? And also, how is it different than the Clive Davis music department at Tisch? I didn't apply there because it said you needed a portfolio and they only accept 32 students a year.

However, I had to change my Steinhardt application major from the Music stuff because they sent me an e-mail saying I still needed to submit a portfolio.

I'm not really interested in producing, mixing, etc and I have NO portfolio materials... I'm more interested in artist management, marketing & promotion so I don't understand why they were asking me to submit audios of me singing & other things for a portfolio...

But now I'm on the Steinhardt website and they seem to be way more about the artistic side of the music business, AHHHH.

I'm just so lost, can someone help me haha? Besides a few years of playing the saxophone in middle school band, I don't have much artistic musical experience... as I said, I just want to be involved with the business & management side of things. I have SOME experience and a LOT of knowledge with the "behind the scenes" stuff of the music biz...

This is why Northeastern is my top choice... way less confusing, cheaper, more co-op opportunities, and closer to home. Butttt I'm waitlisted so NYU is looking like one of my top deposit schools...
