Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into the music business program at steinhardt?? I already applied, but I'm just wondering how difficult it really is to get in? Or honestly any information you know about this program would be great!

hey I am a freshman in the program right now (steinhardt not tisch). I kinda applied last minute early decision after just wanting to get the college process over. 3.65 hs gpa. 26 act but like a million million e.c.s (president of class 400 hours community service and way more) and I guess my audition tape was good. I’m not sure the % of people who are accepted but I’d say a fair amount. I’m not going to lie there are some pretty dumb kids who are talented in the program but also some really smart kids who aren’t talented, and every mix in between. The major itself is really hard. You start of with algebra and calc, writing the essay, music theory, music business class (worst class ever). and then you have 6 credits for electives (most students do voice lessons or a recorded music class). I’m in LOVE with so many kids in the program. They are so down to earth and you meet them at orientation and talk all summer and then have class with them and its a really close knit group of students. But besides from the students, I can not stand the program. This is not to defer you from going at all, but I’m not going to lie I know a good chunk of kids who are thinking about switching either to communications or just music business in galletin or tisch. Kids do love the program. I’m 90% I am transferring out of nyu next year…price, no campus community, no real united social scene. But if I stay at NYU I am not continuing on with music business. The program is really strong, but its just not for me. If it is your thing and you are positive you are bound to succeed with the major and all the opportunities in the city. PM me if you have any more questions

i applied ED and got in. 29 ACT, 2nd best school in the state (and only offers honor and AP classes), 3.2 GPA, ECs related to music business. @NYUtransfer1314 what makes you dislike the program so much?
