Hey, is it possible for someone like me, a non-music major, to take lessons/classes at the conservatory (I'm going in as a chem. eng. major, btw)?

p.s. if not, is there any way I could get instrumental instruction via McGill?

the mcgill conservatory offers lessons and classes to non-music majors... there should be a menu on minerva for that once registration opens for you.

also non-music majors are allowed to audition for ensembles and register for some of the classes in the music faculty... if minerva lets you do it, then you're fine, otherwise go speak with a student affairs adviser in your faculty about what you're interested in (to take any classes in the music faculty, you need to have completed some prereqs such as musicianship, theory, keyboarding, etc)...

what's your instrument? i might be able to recommend a teacher.

I play guitar, but I'm kinda lacking in the theory department (I can barely read sheet music, and I have a basic understanding of chordal harmony, scales, etc.).

I'm really interested in learning jazz guitar.
