Music Education in Texas

Hi all! I'm really, really passionate about pursuing music education but I need some suggestions. To be brief, I want a great school academically in Texas with a strong music program that is not cutthroat competitive but is highly respected. My counselor suggested focusing on the private schools since I have the scores to get large scholarships (plus I would not enjoy some of the really large class sizes like in UT Austin or another state school). Here are my thoughts:
Baylor University: church music or music education
TCU: music ed
SMU: double major music ed and piano performance
Trinity University: 5 year bachelor/masters
UNT: close by but I'm deterred by the huge class sizes
Rice: doesn't offer music ed, only performance
Southwestern: small, don't know much about it

Can anyone give me some input on these schools, their strengths, their competitiveness, etc.?

I have sent you a PM

Compdad,
Could you post any info you have or PM me also? My daughter is in a similar situation, looking at Music Ed in Texas.

churchpianist15, would you mind forwarding what I sent you to Mus1cMom. I did not save it. Thanks.
