First off let me say I am sorry, I am new at this and hope I am doing it right. I am a senior this year in High School and I am looking for a a good music school that has high quality programs in both Music Management and Vocal Performance. I am having a hard time finding schools that offer both. Does anyone have any sugestions of where I should look? I don't have a preferences for where, as long as both programs are strong. Any ideas??

Ah, there you are. I answered your other post above, so begin there. Peterson’s Guide to Performing Arts Colleges will help you narrow your search within the parameters of your interests. How strong is your voice? Is it the type that could get you into a top-tier school just on it’s own merits? In a conservatory-based program, VP majors are often taking more credits that instrumental majors (those ensembles, chamber groups and orchestras take up a lot of time, so those kids are busy after the classes end!), so, depending upon your school, you may not have enough time to add in Music Management courses. Find a couple of schools that interest you and call their admissions offices now, before their new year ramps up- they’ll have more time to chat with you and answer your questions.

USC (Los Angeles) and Loyola New Orleans both have high quality Music Management and VP. Whether or not you are able to have a double major is another story.

Hartt has a VP/Music management five year double major.

James Madison University in VA has BM Music with VP and Music Industry emphasis (students choose either a management or recording focus).

Students in the Music Industry emphasis with voice as their primary instrument take four years of voice lessons, participate in vocal ensembles, operas, and musicals, present recitals, etc…

OCU does offer both programs but I don’t know about double majoring.

And Hartt offers the “early action” audition option where one can audition in December and have an “answer” around Christmas. Less stress is a good thing!

Harrt was one of my top choices. does anyone have anything good to say about Belmont? It is another school I have been looking very seriously into.
