Music minor Biology major??

I am hoping to eventually become a veterinarian and am fully aware of the requirements for vet school... I am also a music lover and have been taking private lessons for years and take music very seriously. I understand that the music minor will most likely be a "useless" degree when it comes to finding jobs, but I am interested in continuing the purual of music. Is this a good path when coupled with a biology major for pre vet?

If you love music then why not? I beleive that college is about individual development; if music is part of who you are then it ought to stay with you. College students should enjoy themselves!

Lots of great “sciency” schools have amazing music opportunities as well (both in and out of the school). Examples: Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute, Berklee College of Music + Harvard.

Music is one of the greatest exercises for the brain, and mastery of music is closely associated with mastery of higher Math, physics, etc. It is also a fabulous outlet when academic and professional pressures begin closing in. My grandfather died when I was a baby, but (he was a surgeon) my mother remembered that he would head immediately to the piano, and play challenging pieces, if he had a particularly stressful day at the hospital. Vanderbilt has a great Music school, along with its world-renowned life science departments.

Vet schools are looking for well rounded candidates. I think a music minor would make you stand out.

DO IT!!! I’ve played violin for 14 years and thought about a major… I ended up doing a biochemistry major with a music minor. Its creative, a great stress relief, and sciency people seem kind of impressed by it (though the music minor at my school is kind of a joke if you’re a musician)
