Music minor vs. Theatre minor?

I'm looking at Ohio University, Miami University, and Bowling Green State University, all in Ohio. I'm planning on majoring in journalism BUT I wanted to minor in musical theatre. Well none of these colleges have musical theatre programs, and I don't want to look at other colleges. My strongest suit out of dancing, singing, and acting is definitely singing, and I want to continue singing in college. But I need to improve my acting/dancing. So should I minor in music performance (vocal) or theatre (acting)?

It depends upon what you want from these programs and from life after college and in fact, there’s no real need to “minor” at all. Once you fill your schedule with your required courses, see what you have room for and how they fit into the course distribution. Take an acting class and check to see if you can take private voice lessons on the side- join a college choral group/chorus and the theatre group. You can ask around to find a good dance studio in the area that offers MT dance classes. Often , those not majoring in Drama/Acting won’t be cast in the plays, but go to a meeting in the fall and check things out. What do you hope to do with the journalism major and will you be happy at a school with no MT?
