Music Performance at UB?

We live in NY, and daughter wants to study music performance, oboe. When you think of SUNY schools, you think of Potsdam, Fredonia, Purchace and Buff State has a Music Ed program. Also with the CUNY's we hear of Queens and Brooklyn. Any particular oboe school stick out? These would be our financial safeties, although by no means is a music acceptance automatic of course.

At a recent college fair, a University at Buffalo counselor (not Buff state) told my daughter they offer an excellent performance major in a relatively good sized (albeit cold, windy, snowy) city that she should consider. We had not really heard about UB and performance, and to be honest their website didn't look very exciting in talking about it's performance program. Anybody have the inside scoop on UB and oboe performance?

Can’t help with this specific question but others will. Just wanted to say that Purchase has a conservatory and is close to NYC and is of course very well-respected. I have heard good things about Buffalo but in the context of grad composition.

UB isn’t well known for their music program… You mentioned the major SUNY music schools. The oboe prof at Suny Potsdam, Anna Hendrickson, is great, very supportive, a good teacher and creative. <a href=“Directory | SUNY Potsdam”>Directory | SUNY Potsdam;
