music rooms

are there music rooms in which we can just play the piano, sing, etc.? sound-proofed walls and all??

i'm pretty sure that if i'm constantly screeching at the top of my lungs in my room, my roommate would be pretty annoyed

yea there are
at least in hedrick there are

If we're assigned to, say, Dykstra, will we still have access to the practice rooms in other residence halls/plazas/etc.?

I think so, your Bruin card gives you access to all the buildings.

when i was at orientation, a lot of the music rooms that i saw were locked ("used").

there was one that was unlocked and had no one inside; it had stuff inside, though, indicated that it was also used.

do we make appointments with the people at the front desk to use the rooms?

you have to ask front desk for a key.

I know nothing about these music rooms- do any of them include drum sets? :)

i dont think so. only a piano.

I have a seven piece set (2 bass drum, snare, 2 mounted toms, and 2 floor toms), plus cymbals and hardware. It is practical to keep a basic set in the dorms?

Anyone with knowledge?

i dont think your roommates will be happy with it. it would basically take up all the walking space between the beds so that no one will have any room to move. and i dont think the people in the rooms surrounding you would be too happy with it either.

racofrag..pretty impossible, but I feel your pain.

I am in a triple and have 'cool' roommates. What I've done before was to leave the hardware in my truck and keep the rest under my bed.

In this case I will be in a loft so my bed and desk space are one. Whatever I do with that space is my problem. I will however have to check the feasibility before attempting to store my stuff.
