Musical Theater at Wes?

I applied ED2 to Wes but I just had a small freakout because I looked on the CFA performances for the past few years and I didn’t see anything related to musical theater. I feel like an idiot for not looking sooner, but I knew they had a strong theater program so I just assumed… Does anyone know if Wes has anything at all related to musical theater, like student groups or literally anything? I’ve done a musical every year since third grade and the idea of going completely cold turkey really sucks. Any responses would be appreciated.

Hey Lin-Manuel Miranda writer of Hamilton had his first Musical In the Heights performed AT Wes. So I’m sure there’s at least a student group…(Though speaking as an ED2 applicant as well I don’t really know lol) and even if there is none, nothing can stop you from building one! I mean build a Musical club and run a show on your own with a couple of friends and musical nerds! (If we can both get in, definitely count me in lmao)

My daughter is active in the Wes theatre and musical scene. She is participating in the current spring production of “next to normal” and she participated in a music last year as well. As far as I know there is at least 2 musicals per year put on by the official second stage group. But there are many other smaller theatre productions some musicals as well put on by other theatre groups. This does not include any senior theatre thesis productions which automatically get produced of which some could be musicals - like Lin Manuel’s “in the heights” which was his senior thesis. There is a very active theatre and musical theatre scene at Wes, don’t worry about it.

That’s a relief to hear, thank you so much!
