Musicians: Dorming & Practicing????

Ok, so my first concern with dorming is how I'm going to practice. I mean, when you share a room with someone, you're not exactly going to have a lot of alone time to be singing (or playing) without disturbing anyone. Not to mention the walls r probably thin. So is anyone else concerned about this, and how do you plan to deal with it?

Most colleges will have practice rooms in or near the Music department. At my D's school, they have lockers in the same building and people leave their instruments there.

there are practice rooms in the music buildings.

Many colleges' dorms also have practice rooms so you should check with the ones you're interested in and ask. You may not even have to leave your building!

my dorm is connected to the music building, but we also have practice rooms in our dorm. A lot of music majors live here and a lot of non music majors that want to practice anyway. We never have problems getting practice rooms.

I hope my roommate plays a instrument and is into metal so we can jam.

hmm, this makes me feel better :)

you play guitar jr86?

there is a lot of practice space at my school.. but my neighbors play guitar, sax, and flute, and i often hear guitars, etc. when walking around in the halls - as long as it's not too loud and you are respectful of other people's need for quiet at times, you should be okay
