Does anyone have any experience with MI? Know someone who goes/went there? What's it like and what is their job placement rate?

My S is an aspiring music business major but unfortunately is not a candidate for USC, Berklee, or Belmont, for various reasons including GPA. I am wondering how he can get his foot in the door in the industry.

if you search this forum you’ll find other posts about the Musician’s Institute. I think there may be info elsewhere in this website about it too, if you do a more global search.

I used to be interested in MI but It’s really fake for me. First of all it’s a for profit college so there may not be as much opportunity for financial aid/scholarships etc. I took a tour there when I was in LA this year and it was ok, a lot of really good players have gone there but it just seems really pretentious and I doubt the community there is very supportive. LA is not my ideal place to be and I imagine just a bunch of kids that want to shred and play as fast as they can…which honestly a lot of the alumni do. It’s just not my cup of tea at all. I’m not sure at all about music business there…is your son a performer/musician as well or just interested in the business side? If he wants to attend a music school and study business he would have to be able to have a primary instrument and get in with an audition, a lot of people overlook that and think just because they want to do business/management/recording etc. they don’t need to play but that’s not the case if they want to attend most colleges that have degrees in those areas
