MX and SG

Anyone out there joining the middlesex or st georges class of 2016? I haven't decided between the two

Woo!! Yay for the Middlesex rejection club!! (complete sarcasm).

I’ll be attending Middlesex next year! But I’m class of 2015 :)

Which one are you leaning to?

I’m a little more towards SG. I got there and it felt right but I can’t explain why, and it’s right on the beach so that’s a plus. But I’m going to the revisit day for both schools so we’ll see then.
Azpandaman: sorry to hear about that, what about any other schools you applied to

Maggles: I originally set out to apply to 5 schools: Middlesex, Andover, Exeter, NMH, and Mercersburg. Due to my severe procrastination, I completed two applicantions: Andover and Middlesex. My chances don’t look good lol. Whatever happens, happens.

Oh. There’s always next year! But keep your hopes up about andover

My daughter is attending the SGS revisit and it is an overnight but they can’t do dorm accommodations, so my suggestion for the closest place to stay is the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites down Purgatory Road, walking distance from the school. Next to Flos clam shack for fried local hush puppies and things. The hotel has parking and it’s right on the beach.

Maggles2288: St. George’s is a great school, too! I applied there, but didn’t receive anything online lol. I can’t check my mail anytime soon so :P

azpandaman: Sorry to hear that…wish you the best!

I actually just found out today that I was accepted to Taft as well so I have to fit that into my plans somehow

Partial to SG. My son graduated from there last year and my daughter was accepted for next year. Strongly recommend revisit to SG. Speak with the teachers and the students. Be sure to walk around the harbor in Newport and Second Beach ( the beach right below campus). Many great places to eat in Newport. Flo’s is good, but Brick Alley Pub is better.

My mom and I went to brick alley pub the night before my visit. Calamari was sooo good

Brick Alley is amazing!!! BTW I only mentioned Flo’s because it is practically on campus. You will leave there with a “food baby” stomach since everything is fried. My top vote is for the souffle at Bouchard’s.

So basically St. George’s wins over Middlesex for the in-town food quality. But I wonder how their on campus food stacks up in competition.

Because it’s all about the food…;)

It really is.

:)

My son is going to revisit MX and SGS (also class of 2016). He loved SGS, and wanted to love MX, but for some reason it didn’t really excite him (cruddy, cold day?). I had visited MX with my daughter 2 years ago and she and I think it would be great for him so it is getting another chance. He was waitlisted at Taft, about which I am pleased because I want him at a small school.
I think the headmaster at SGS is fantastic and I really admire the concerted effort they have put into keeping the kids entertained and on campus during the weekend. It seems as though they have a lot of fun.
Enjoy your revisit days!

I didn’t really like mc when I visited, but after getting accepted I started to think I liked it more. This was mostly because my interviewer at Taft went on and on about their low acceptance rates so I thought there was no way I could get it. But SGS beats them all when it comes to the town, Newport has everything from stores to starbucks whereas every where else seems a little less nearby

Oops I meant mx
