Hi! I am a Junior and recently the stress about college has been overwhelming. I have a 4.17 GPA but that will soon go up since I am aiming for a 4.3 GPA this semester and most probably will achieve it based on my current standings. I am ran 91 in my class and that does make top 10%. I recently have submitted an internship application for an experience in coding. I plan to major in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering (CS being top priority). I have graduated from a program called Kumon and have completed their math program (If that really does anything; it took like 7 years and I now know college level Calculus). I already have 150 + hours and plan to volunteer more in the summer. I participate in various culture festivals. I am a Boy Scouts volunteer (I help young scouts on their trips and assist the den leader) even though I am not a boy scout. I took the PSAT and got a 1290/1520. I will be taking the new SAT in March of 2016. I plan to join ASB my senior year but that may be unlikely due to the bias toward more popular students in my school. I will recieve a CSF stash for being a member for 4 semesters. I have been a FBLA member for 1 year. I have played City League Basketball for 3 years in the summer however I have not played an sports in School. I have not yet taken any AP tests but I will this May for AP English, AP Chemistry, and AP Computer Science. I am Trilingual and have recieved some credit from a University for a language called Telugu( I don’t know how it works but I was told that after 3 years of learning you qualify for a test given by a university for some language credit?? My mom told me this probs BS but it seemed pretty legit when I took it. I don’t even know the name of the University but the program is called Silicon Andhra Manabadi). I plan to take 5 AP’s senior year and all are my strengths. Unlike this year where AP chemistry completely destroyed my GPA. I took the AMC test but scores are not here yet. I really have nothing else. I’m hoping I really get that internship to make me stand out like .00001 percent more. My top colleges right now are UCLA (doubt it) UCSD, UCI, UCSB, and UCD. I plan to only apply to UC’s and maybe CalPoly Pomona but my school has guaranteed acceptance there. Any suggestion on what I should do Senior year and maybe before Junior year ends? Apply for Student Achievement, ASB, or maybe even Yearbook? Any good things to show good leadership?
what’s your UC GPA, to get into UCI/UCSB/UCD. You should aim for a 4.1 UC GPA with a 31 on the ACT(since you’re applying for comp sci or a 1370 on the new SAT, don’t worry about you’re EC’s too much just write a decent essay its mostly about the stats
How do I find my UC gpa? And my main choice is UCSB so what are my odds on that?
Capped UC GPA can be found using your 10-11 weighted GPA. Except only two honors/AP count for weightage per semester so with 5 classes the max UC capped weighted GPA is a 4.4. There are some honors that aren’t approved such as biology honors,english 2 honors, spanish 2 honors, and Algebra 2 honors. Examples of UC approved honors courses are pre calc honors, spanish 3 honors, and chemistry honors. All AP’s are weighted.
