I'm currently a junior, and I'm considering applying to Cornell next year.

My extracurriculars are pretty good (at least I think). I have three awards from a national foreign language exam, three awards from art contests (up to national finalist), and a couple of music competitions. I am a president of our school's environment club and I play in the school orchestra (was a principal viola player in sophomore year, then moved up to the highest orchestra from this year). I'm a yearbook staff in my school and I probably will be an editor next year. I took the PSAT this October, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be at least commended (if I don't make the National Merit cut off score).

My problem is my GPA...I go to a public high school, but it's still ranked as one of the top in the nation and our courses are very challenging. I take all honors and AP classes, and last year, I got a C+ in my first AP class. Because of this class, my grades from all other classes dropped, and left me with about 3.4 for my first semester. But I raised them up and got a 4.0 (out of 4.2 total) for my second semester. For my total high school GPA, I'm guessing about 4.0~4.1.

I am taking the SAT in January. I've been getting about 2200~2250 on my practice tests, and I'm looking to a similar score on the actual one..

I was wondering if this would be enough to get me into Cornell..
