My chances at a merit scholarship please?

I'm not all that familiar with MoHo's merit scholarships or what percentage or how many get them... but if you have any input about my chances of getting one I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Volunteer at Friends of the Library and a pet shelter, 250+ volunteer hours

In the French and Science Honors Societies, honor roll, National Merit Semi- finalist, AP Scholar. Have won a couple science expo awards and a couple History Day awards

Will have very good reccs and decent essays

Do you have 250+ volunteer hours in a year?

No, I have about 350 total.

I’d say you have a decent shot, but I don’t really know what their criteria on. For what it’s worth, the main merit scholarships they give are the Leadership Award (usually 10k/year) and 21st Century Scholarship (20k/year??? not sure).

I got the Leadership Award and didn’t have as many extra-curriculars as you and a slightly lower GPA. However, I had stellar recs and essays… it all depends. Your stats as listed below are very impressive but I would say that getting a merit scholarship depends on so many things, not the least of which being the applicants with whom you are competing.

You never know who you are competing with or what admissions is looking for, so just put forth your best effort and representation of yourself.

Best of luck.
