I don’t think you’re going to get into Harvard with “pretty good” essays. Anyway, you’re stats are good so you may have a good shot. Your ethnicity will work against you so that puts you at a disadvantage.

Harvard-High Reach
Yale-High Reach
Princeton-High Reach
Johns Hopkins- Reach

What are you planning to major in?

You have good average and good extracurriculars. Your chances of getting in are high

You have solid academic credentials and you will get a very serious look and consideration. That said, being a female Asian applicant places you within an uber competitive grouping of applicants, and thus, contrary to girlgoingtouni, your chances of admission are not high, but rather fair, which is the most anyone can ask for as to these highly selective schools.

Your extracurriculars are good - colleges like fundraising especially - as well as serving a position in a major youth organization. Your stats are pretty good, all though 4 AP’s is a mediocre number of AP’s to be taking to get into an Ivy League. Does your school rank? How many AP’s does it offer? Because if your school offers only those four, then that won’t be held against you, but if your school offers 15 or 20, you might be at a disadvantage. The Ivy League schools want to see that you’ve taken the most rigorous course load your school offers. Other than that, go ahead and apply! I’m sure you have a pretty good chance!

Thanks. For the essays when i compare them to ones from successful applicants they are not bad, but they are not also the ones that will blow your hair back even among early applicants, if you know what I mean. I plan to do biology.

Haha my school actually only offers two since we are a Canadian school. It doesn’t rank either. Thanks so much for the feedback!

to boolaHI,
yes, it is unfortunate that race still plays a role in admission. But I can’t choose my ethnicity. Thanks again.

Although your grades are solid, your ECs, could have been better considering the kind of applicants these universities get.

IMO, you should be able to get JHU and one of HYP, but with some amazing essays, you might do better!

Best of luck!

I would say that for JHU, you have a pretty good shot. Now for HYP, it is almost impossible to say. I do believe that you are way better than the average- however, make sure that you have created superb essays. In pools as competitive as the Ivys, every little thing can spark a denial. I truly hope you get into at least one of the four, and I do believe you will, as your scores are very competitive (especially at JHU). Good luck!

to jackisawesome,
Awww you are too kind. I would be delighted to get into any of these schools, so your words make me so happy! I think I would have a good shot at JHU if I had research experience. However, my teacher says my essay for JHU is quite good so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

@legendarypotato I think as long as you focus on social justice and atypical activities and strong passions that show eagerness to make a difference, JHU is definitely possible. Because you are an international student, however, I can’t provide any definitive chance for Harvard, Yale or Princeton.

Welcome to McGill

You seem like you have a really good personality and if you showed it through your essays, then it might do wonders. Your scores are very good as you know, so that at least puts you in the ballpark. I wish you the best

Hit me back?

As many mentioned, you are qualified for all and I would expect you get in one or more. While Johns Hopkins is good for research in biology, it is certainly not a prerequisite for undergraduate admissions. Your EC are quite impressive as they indicate personality and dedication .

As implied by @ClarinetDad16 , I’d be sure to apply to other colleges, some in Canada, as international competition is more difficult (although a good number of US colleges do consider Canadians domestic or at least not fully international. I’d research this More closely). I’m guessing you’ve already applied to them, such as McGill and UToronto. If you really want to go to US, I’d apply to some other colleges too in the US.
