My Chances at Rutgers...

I really have my heart set on Rutgers/NB for Philosophy, its the only college I'm interested in. But I really did rather badly last year (I dropped like thirty spots in my class ranking).

My GPA is a 3.14 (unweighted and a 3.6 something weighted)
I'm just in the top twenty percent at 62/316
SAT: 690 Critical Reading, 460 Math, 580 Writing

I've been on the debate team for three years, I've won a few writing contests, last summer I was a Governor's Scholar (I live in NJ). I'm taking AP History, AP Lang & Lit, AP Bio, and AP Government.

I applied a couple of days ago, what are my chances?

Real borderline, but I'm guessing you'll make it in.

Reasons you'll get in: Tough courseload, good ECs, in-state student.

Working against you: Low math SAT and declining grades--especially UW GPA.

How significant will my current grades (all -A's except my C in AP Bio) and my race (African-American) be in the equation?

african american + rigorous courseload + top 20% = most likely accepted

try to get your SAT's up though, at least by 100 points overall, anything below 500 is bad news
