My Chances....Be Honest Please!!

<p>I'll be applying this year for my junior year (i'm class of 2013) to Miss Porter's, Choate, Exeter, Hotchkiss, Andover, Deerfield and Middlesex. I'm originally from NY, but am moving to Florida this year. I went to an all girls school in NY, and am switching to a coed private school in Florida.<br>
Eight Grade-
93% average
2 Regents courses (thats the equivalent of honors in 8th grade in NYPS)
95 on Science Regents Test (normally taken in 9th grade)
89 on Algebra Regents Test (normally taken in 9th grade)
Played Modified (Thirds) Soccer, and JV lacrosse
Band Member (Treasurer), Science Club, Tech Club, French Club</p>

<p>Ninth Grade-
mostly B+'s (i had a 90% average)
Took Geometry Honors, Physics, English Honors, History Honors,
Switched to Spanish 1 from French
Member of Mock Trial, Ski Club, Science Club, Chinese Club, Young Politicals Club, International Club and Math Club
Played Varsity Soccer, Third on Varsity Squash Ladder (received Coach's Award), Member of JV lacrosse team, but regularly played in Varsity games (MVP and captain of JV team)</p>

<p>Tenth Grade-
Biology, English, Algebra 2 (no honors offered)
US history honors
Will be taking Spanish 1 again (I got A's last year in Spanish, but the Spanish courses at my new school teach a different Spanish with Cuban words and phrases)
Will be member of track team
Will play lacrosse outside of school on state team
Will continue playing squash at tournaments
And I'll try to do as much volunteer work as I can!</p>

<p>If I get straight A's this year in my classes, will I have any chance of getting into any of these schools? Or should I look at second and third tier schools?
And I have the option to take AP US History, would I have a better chance of getting in if I do that? I doubt that I would do as well in it as I'd do in Honors, but would it help?</p>

<p>ALSO, on some of the applications it asks you to list your favorite music, movies, colors, websites, keepsakes, words, foods and books. I was just wondering how I should answer these questions. For example, my favorite songs are POwer by Kanye West and Drop the Bomb on Em by Eminem, but should I put those are would that hurt my chance?</p>

<p>For miss porter’s and Deerfield you should be fine, but some of the others may be a push. I’d apply. You are a good candidate! I would NOT say you like rap music, maybe go for something like U2 or Phoenix. Maybe Coldplay. It shows an unique thinker to like different music. So maybe some non-top 40 stuff.
Could you chance me also?</p>

<p>all of those bands are quite popular i would think listening to unsigned rappers/artists is much more “alt” than listening to coldplay and U2 also they never ask you that they could care less</p>
