My Chances for Duke and Cornell and ED?

I'm going to apply to both these colleges and I'm wondering what my chances are.
I'm going to be a senior in the fall.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should apply to Cornell through early decision.
I understand that I have a better chance or being accepted to Cornell if I apply early, it also says that directly on the website.
However, my family is financially very unstable. The current income is about 55,000 a year and plus we still have large loans.
This concerns me about whether or not I should because I really want to go to Cornell. Do I need the extra insurance provided by applying early?

Well Cornell is needs blind for admissions, so they won’t reject you based on income. They also say that they are committed to meeting 100% of need. Plus if you can’t afford the package they offer you, you can decline ED.

However, if you are thinking of applying ED purely because that increases your chances, you should re think your priorities.
