So hello everyone. Today I will tell you everything about me and ask you what my chances are for stanford university. First of all my stats:
Act composite 32
Sat subject test math 2- 710, physics -710
GPA unweighted is a 4.0.
Speak 5 languages
I am in 8 clubs currently and hold officer position for 2
Now for my story. I come from am extremely poor family with very low income. I recently moved here from the country of Nepal 7 years ago. Everything that I have done since my arrival has been solely done by me with no tutor or anyone else. My drive and passion which is evident in my essays are physics and engineering. I have done lots with physics like publishing a project. I have also submitted an arts ( photography ) portfolio. My teacher recommendations are good and I have been very active in the school community. So here comes the question:
What are the chances of me getting in?
What you have listed is awesome, however more details featured on your application need to be shared in order to chance you accurately!
What kind of details would you like me to state? I will gladly post them
Country/State of Residence
Honors/AP classes & AP scores
Any “bad” grades?
Major(s)/Minor(s)
Specify your extracurriculars and leadership positions
What 5 languages do you speak?
Did you take the SATs? If not, why not? If so, what score(s) did you receive?
I’ll do my best to chance you!
State of residence is Massachusetts.
I have taken all honors and AP classes offered nyhe school. By senior year, I will have taken 9-10 AP classes.
Only bad grade was first quarter of senior year in calculus when I recieved an 84
major/minor is either physics or engineering (not completely sure yet)
I have ran cross country. Have been in chess club, National honors society, engineering club, physics club, student government, tech club and international club. I am also the president of National Honors Society.
The 3 exotic languages that I speak are Nepalese, arabic, and hindi. I also speak French and Spanish.
I did take the SATs and I did not do as well since I lacked the preparation materials. I recieved a 1950 on it. But hopefully my ACT scores will counteract it.
I think you have a 50/50 chance. You meet the majority of the requirements and you are really unique. Be proud of all your accomplishments! Best of luck to you!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it.
Dude, I feel you. Finding the motivation to study on your own when everyone else has tutors is really difficult. I would mention this in my application, but be careful not to sound whiney. Give it a positive twist and show that, in this respect, you are independent. Best of luck.
@Randy200 I think your extracurriculars are really spread out and don’t show that much depth. I would put your chances at around the same as every other applicant (around 5%).
