I like Dartmouth very much, though it is not the school I want to go to most.
Competition for Int'l students is always fierce. I am going to face students all over the world with amazing stats. Anyway Dart is a top school. I will be satisfied if I am enrolled there.

Well, did you check GTER out? You should know it since you are Chinese, of course so am I.

You have good numbers and ECA, there are just a bunch of NIU REN in China due to the population. And you will much likely have to compete with them. I guess most univs do realize that there are huge differences between the education systems. I am applying to U Chicago, too, but I guess you have better chances.

Here are some of those NIU people's information:

And you know people holding IMO first prize are gonna apply, too.

No offense, just advice.

Thanks man! I guess your information is quite helpful!
But... I guess they are not applying this year, and even if they do. I am confident that I can beat them because I have to be, since the competition is so fierce. And furthermore, you know well that applications are far more than awards.
So you too, be confident. Everyone is special. None of us can be subtituted.

And I noticed your examples have not taken any of the tests. Wish them good luck.

Where are your SAT II's? Doesn't Dartmouth require 3 of them?

As an international applicant, you'll need to demonstrate very good reading and writing abilities to get into these colleges. If you can do that, with the other stuff you have now, you're set.

Joey

Joey,

What you said is really the thing I am concerned about. My reading score in TOEFL is full mark, but in SAT I made 10 mistakes in reading section. Writing... I didn't do well in TWE (Test of Written English) as I got 4.5 out of 6. I only hope I can impress the admissions officers with my essay now.

Thanks!

Dartmouth sees a tumultuous competition among EDers in Shanghai. At least two Shanghai students applying for Dart have far better SAT than you, above 1500, and a lot of ECs that can show their talent, creativity and passion. I don't know about their essays. They also come from the best high schools in Shanghai, top 1% students in their graduating class. So just wait and see.

Isn't y10k in Canada? My god..

And I think your SAT I will not satisfy Amherst.

williamzhang,

You are ridiculous. Scoring a SAT above 1500 cannot be called FAR better than me, and at least admissions officers know that a testtaker scoring 60 higher or lower than his actual ability is not rare. You said others have better ECs than mine, then show me. Don't tell! My school send most students to USA colleges than any other counterparts in China. I am afraid you are not a man of confidence. Next time when you are to say something, remember to take on your examples and proofs, okay?

Why don't you look into Williams (MA.) You said you wanted interaction with other colleges (Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, Boston U etc.), well its not exactly within close proximity, but still within the same state! Haha. Anyway, Williams is need blind for international students and they're a very good liberal arts college. If that's what you're looking for seeing as you are applying ED for Dartmouth.

Yeah, 220! I am considering Williams as well! It is another school I am dying for!

My God! Competition for Dartmouth ED acceptance in Shanghai is really terrifying me.
Let's assume that Dartmouth is going to admit more EDers in Shanghai.
William Zhang...are you a Shanghai student?
