I have around a high GPA, around a 4.3 or 4.4. I took AP world sophomore year; AP calc, AP Lang, AP history, and AP chemistry junior year; AP calc bc, AP literature, AP gov, AP bio, AP comp sci senior year. I’m in top 10% of my class. I do a few extracurricular activities, and I’m in a officer position for two of those clubs. I’m a part of national honor society and science national honor society as well. I also have around 150 volunteer service hours. My SAT is around a 1900. In college I want to do some kind of STEM field. I know that no one could know for sure but what do you guys think are my chances for UVA?
oh also I’m editor for my school news paper.
What state are you from? If from Virginia, did you look at the scattergrams for your school? Virginia state universities, even UVa tend to have pretty firm GPA requirements as a threshold for admission that vary based upon the individual high school. I’m presuming your GPA is weighted and the scattergrams can be invaluable. A 4.3 or 4.4 would look pretty good coming from the top schools in the state. Not so much from others.
Since you are interested in STEM, you really should be looking at Virginia Tech as well. That is the better engineering school and also very competitive in other STEM disciplines.
Yes I’m from Virginia, Thanks for the help!
Good chance, you could elaborate more on your ECs when you apply and your SAT could be a bit higher to be more competitive, but your GPA is very good. ![]()
