Hi everyone!
I am a High School senior that really wants to double major in Musical Theatre and Chemistry, BFA and BA respectively. I really want to make the most of college and I understand how demanding Musical Theatre is so that is why I am going for a BA in Chemistry as a sort of backup.

If I do extremely well in Musical Theatre and become lucky in terms of opportunities, I will be able to drop Chemistry. But besides the main point, I want to know if I have a chance in MT and where I could possibly go.

First of all, I am a dreamer. I aspire to go high and when I have a goal I try so hard until I reach it, even if it damages my health by lack of sleep or such (sadly, cough* senior year of high school). A good and bad thing.

Me:
Honors/AP: Biology Honors, Chemistry Honors, Physics Honors, AP English, AP Chemistry, AP Art History, Precal (not honors, but the highest level of math I'm taking)

Numbers: GPA: 3.477 Unweighted, 3.57 Weighted
ACT: 25 composite (Eng-26, Read-20, Math-26, Science-29)
I know my test scores would hurt me.

My EFC is like around 9k if that helps, because my parents will not allow me to go to the mainland (which to us in Hawaii is anywhere besides Hawaii, our tiny island chain) if I do not get a decent amount of scholarship, combined in merit and financial aid (which would most likely need to be over half of the cost to stay).

I have been in 2 plays (and 1 theatre performance, I wouldn't consider it a play), but they were in Middle school.

You may think: "No acting courses? No vocal courses? No dance courses? impossible to get into MT."
Well my school is quite small and does not offer any of those, besides Chorus. I greatly regret taking that, however.
I already have a quite developed voice, but I plan to see some sort of coach before I actually initiate my recording for my audition.

I know my highest courses seem to be all science based and well... I guess that is the Asian side of me. (I'm Chinese, just for your information if it is necessary to know, but I do not have an accent.)

I live in Hawaii so I need to audition by DVD/tape since my parents aren't rich enough to afford all the plane costs to different states, most likely hindering my chances.
I have wanted to do acting, actually, in pasts years, being why I took up Speech and Debate. Thus, due to my recent profound realization of interest in Musicality, I have not had time to take up vocal lessons, nor the time due to the vast amount of extracurricular activities I have on my belt right now.
I also do not want to go to a college putting emphasis on Christianity, whether through Methodist or Roman Catholic (especially not that). I do not want to put up with more hate than expected, especially from teachers.

The only restrictions of schools for me are schools in mainly-Republican states. I am sorry if I offend anybody by saying this, but where I go to college, I plan to stay, and I plan to stay in either the East or West coast anyways. I do not want to go to the middle or South, because of my sexuality (yes I am gay, hopefully that does not matter because it isn't visible or very noticeable at all) and I do not want school teachers to not put me as a certain role just because of "me". I know schools do that, but most likely a conservative school would put more emphasis on it. I also do not want to go to a school with extremely classical teaching, such as a emphasis on Shakespeare because most old English roles, are well, English, and that is no place for an Asian like me to fit in.

I would really like a recommendation for some East or West coast schools (such as California, Oregon, Arizona, Indiana, New York, Massachusetts, etc.)
Hopefully these schools are not too expensive, as well.

I need to be able to send in a DVD audition.
By the way, I am going to be auditioning with my 2 monologues (both contemporary, one dramatic, one humorous/dramatic, but clashing in personalities) and my song will most likely be chosen to be Fantasies Come True- Avenue Q (Rob's lines), editing it to have the beginning and end, skipping the middle
I am a pretty short Chinese-american, I do not have distinct Chinese features but it is noticeable that I am asian (in general). Just incase you know of any MT programs that want diversity (I doubt it).

MY TRUE QUESTION: What schools should I apply to? I just want a school good in Chemistry (perhaps some pre-professional programs to possibly go into) and a MT program that matches me.
More emphasis on the MT program though, since that is harder to come by.

Thank you~ so much for reading all of this and helping me.
