My chances of getting into Emory?

Ok so I have done this before in the past but now I have a little more upgrades to add.

GPA: UW 3.958/ W 4.2

SAT I scores (taken twice):
-1st time Composite: 1600
SAT Math: 520
SAT Reading: 520
SAT Writing: 560
-2nd time Composite: 1800
SAT Math: 550
SAT Reading: 600
SAT Writing: 650

ACT w/ writing score (taken once): Composite 25
(I know my SAT/ACT scores suck but I am really and I mean really bad with tests that aren't over a specific subject like the AP exams)

AP Test Scores:
APUSH: 5
AP Lang: 3
(will be taking 6 AP exams this year)

Number of AP classes I will be graduating with: 8
Taken many PreAP/ Honors classes. Have made all A's so far, not a single B on my transcript.

Community service: more than 150 hrs recorded. I do all sorts like church volunteer, school volunteer, fundraising, other sorts of volunteering, tutoring etc etc. (Probably 2 hrs per week)
Awards: Have gotten about 5, all academic and teacher's choice

EC's: Beta club, academic societies, quiz bowl, math team, community service groups. No leadership :( I moved schools and had to give up many positions..

Recommendations: pretty good, got them from teachers who really liked me and knew me.
Essays: I had my sister read them and some friends and they thought they were pretty good, showed my interests, displayed my personality.

Class rank: top 100, not sure which number exactly.

Other info: Senior, minority (Asian)

Basically academically I am pretty set and have been accepted into other colleges based on academe but they were semi-competitive and Emory is my only competitive one. I would really like to be accepted but my SAT/ACT scores suck! idk why I can't do well on these tests I just get so pressurized. I feel the only reason I will not be taken in is bc of these scores. Also bc of no leadership which sucks bc I had 3 positions back at home but since I moved they don't count which is really upsetting.

So on a scale of 1-10, 10 being highest and 1 no way! what are my chances of getting into Emory based on these stats?

Thanks in advance :)

Emory: Reach

Emory: reach

Emory: reach (SAT/ACTs mainly).

I am planning on taking them again tbh… maybe not the SAT since I have already taken it twice but maybe the ACT in Jan. I will prepare this time since I went to the testing center with 0% preparation. Hopefully I’ll bump up to a 30.

3… having a 3.96 and being in the top 100 means your school is extremely easy/inflated… and ur sat scores are rlly poor…

Emory = reach. Scores are low for Emory so you would need something else to make you stand out but I am not sure you have it. Remember that even if you don’t get in, you will go somewhere else and probably love it, then look back one day and be happy how things worked out.

Those SAT’s u should have studied.

Sat is lacking but people have gotten in with those scores, I would suggest you apply early to boost your chances.

If you want to gain admission into Emory, you NEED to improve your standardized test scores. I would say that a 2000+ would give you better chance. Also, if your applying RD, then I don’t think you’ll get in because your competing with people who have as good of a GPA as you but have better test scores.

For now, Emory is a reach. I agree with the post above saying that the low test scores indicate an inflated GPA.

I applied EDII. And yea I know my test scores are awful… my GPA however is not inflated. The school I attend is know to be the hardest one in the state and the most challenging. But I guess I get where you guys are coming from… Low test scores may imply that my GPA was inflated. I hope that doesn’t happen…

Don’t worry too much about it. College admissions look at way more than it seems. Yes your SAT scores are low for Emory but you might have a 70% chance considering your GPA and AP’s. And about the GPA inflation thing colleges do look at the school and its accreditation and prestige so they will know whether your GPA is hard work or just easy classes and grading. While SAT scores do account for a lot in the consideration process, it may just be that you are a bad tester under pressure but in reality a good and even outstanding student in the classroom. Don’t give up hope and good luck!
