My chances of getting into Penn State Park?

I’m a rising senior in pennsylvania , and I study in a public school.
I moved to U.S.A. about 3 years ago , and I studied half year for my freshmen year. So in my freshmen year I didn’t take any high level classes, but I still got pretty good gpa. In my sophomore year I took regular english , honors chem, honors bio, honors pre-cal and regular world history. My gpa for my soph year is 97.85714 and ranked at 22of 310( my school doesn’t do the 4.0 scale thing ) For my junior year I took Spanish I, American Studies honors, AP cal Bc, AP psy , and AP bio. I have’t got my gpa and class rank for this year yet but I believe I did better than last year.
For extra curriculum activities , I am the treasurer for ffa and Interact

  • Science Olympiad ( CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE)
  • Math Club (Varsity Team for 3 years )
  • AMC( American Math Competition)(AMC 12& AMC10)
  • National Honor Society
  • Feeding Fellow Americans
  • Interact(3 years)
  • Astronomical Society
  • Tennis JV
  • Reading Olympics
  • Spanish Club
    Leadership:
  • Renaissance Leadership
    Volunteer:
  • volunteer at library
  • volunteer for teen’s summer science program (Glaxo Smith Kline)
Here I want to mention another important activity. I did a program in Upenn called PSSI, which is about materials science. This program only accept 28 people form delaware valley .
However, my tests scores are not so well. I got 25 on my June ACT test ( 34 on math, 22 on english, 19 on reading, and 25 on science 8on writing ) and I’m planning to take another one in Sept.
For my AP scores , I didn’t do very well either. I got 3 on AP bio and Cal , and I think I messed up with the question numbers so I only got 1 in psych. (sad
    =(( ) feel desperate
I also did a NOPE task force thing , which is a drug abuse prevention program. The benefits of that program include:
    20 Community Service Hours
Eligibility for NOPE Task Force Life Choices Award and monetary school scholarship
Personalized Letter of Recognition from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP)
    NOPE Certificate
I sort of want to major in biomedical engineering but I decide to choose undeclared for the major when I apply.
So , can someone tell me my chances of getting in ?
also, do I still need to send that horrible Ap scores ? And I need some tips for the ACT reading and grammar.
Besides, does PennState requires green card holders take any language tests (like toefl)? And how many essays do they need ? ( exclude the common app) Thanks !

What is your cumulative GPA?

Penn State is not on the Common App.

my cumulative GPA is 97.85714 for sophomore year and I think I did better on my junior year

what I mean is does Penn State require extra essays ?

There is an optional personal statement. You can probably reuse another essay for it, if the topic is applicable.

You are clearly doing very well in your classes! Besides the links already posted, here is one more that can be very useful: the Common Data Set.

Scroll down a bit and you’ll see exactly what scores you’ll need to be competitive for University Park.

(Also feel free to ignore my international links and check out the domestic applicant ones, whichever fits your status – I know next to nothing about that kind of thing, haha.)

So do you think I have good chances of getting in ?

Yes you do, especially if you can bring that English score to 24 and continue doing well. DO the “optional” essay (anything “recommended” should be treated as “required” unless you won an Olympic medal) and apply in September, and you’re set.
Biomedical engineering is NOT the same thing as premed. It’s also the only engineering major that requires graduate studies. Penn State has LOTS of interesting science-based majors - check out the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences!

You are doing very well GPA wise, ACT math is great! Not sure what happened on the AP calc BC exam, was your grade in the class higher?

Looks like you should work on your English some, did you not take an English class junior year, you didn’t mention it?

I tool english class on my junior year. It is a english and history combine class.

And do you think my ap scores are going to hurt me ? Can I choose not to send all my AP scores to colleges?

You can choose not to give colleges your AP scores but if they see you took the class and didn’t send the scores they know you got a bad score.

Actually, scores don’t matter to Admissions. Only the fact you took the class and for a B or higher.
Of course if you send good scores it’s good, but if you don’t no one cares (not all students take the AP test after the ap class).
You’ll need to being our actions English to 27 and you’re good.
