Penn State University Park (Main)

I was wondering if I had a strong enough app to get into Penn State University Park. I am currently a junior in high school and have been a PA resident my entire life. I have a 3.8 unweighted gpa with a total of 18 Honors classes and just 1 AP. (I plan on taking another AP senior year) My Sat score is an 1170.
Extra curriculuar’s- Ice hockey(fresh-Senior) community service corporation (soph-junior year) School ambassador (junior and senior year). I also have a part time job at Chick-fil A (for the past year). Thank you for reading this and For sharing your opinion. Have a good day and may God bless you.

When I list my extra curricular’s I say senior year bc I will be participating in these clubs next year

@JaredB91 , GPA is fine but you may want to try to improve your SAT scores. Or try the ACT. You should aim to at least be above 1250 as that’s the 25th percentile for accepted students prior to this year.

Please note that PSU added the common app and early action this year which really messed up their numbers. They are waitlisting kids who typically would have gotten in. Acceptance stats and typical strategies to get in (applying DUS) may no longer hold true. I would simply suggest that you try your best and apply to schools where your stats are above the average of stats of accepted or enrolled students, and make sure you have at least 2 safety schools lined up.

What major would you be interested in?
Study hard for the sat or the act. Retake in May and June this year.
Have you reached level 3 or 4 in a foreign language? Precalculus or calc in math? Taken bio, chem and physics (at any level)? What APs?

Basically, you shouldbe ok, but this year is being really weird so the aforementioned added details would help.

AP Chem. AP literature . Bio freshmen year, chem soph, physics junior, (all in honors) Anatomy senior year, 2 years of Latin, One in Spanish, precalculus and AP stat. I will most likely be applying for a science major to prepare for dental school. Either Kinesiology, geology, or political science. If you have anymore questions please ask them.

You need to reach level 3 in Spanish or 4 in Latin for the universities you’re targeting (what matters is level reached). See if you can dual enrollment with a local community college, perhaps taking Spanish 1-2 over the summer and Spanish 3 during the year.

Apply DUS, also study super hard and retake the SAT and ACT. You seem in good shape, but you never know what admissions is going to take.
