<p>This summer I took a 6 week trip to Tibet, I took part in various cultural experiences, a home stay with monks, and a community service project helping Tibetan orphans.</p>
<p>What school are you applying to? What are you planning to study?</p>
<p>A fair warning about the summer program though...If this is your essay topic (and it sounds like it might be), do not pull the cliche "This experience changed my life because it opened my eyes to another part of the world and I love helping people"...They hear this all the time and it often translates to
"My parents could afford to send me on this six week vacation where I only spent about one week doing actual work"...</p>
<p>Be sure to highlight the challenges of the trip...did it make you want to study East Asian politics? If you are into film is this a part of the world you might want to document? It sounds like an amazing trip, but be very careful with this topic, I've heard from many guidance counselors, college advisors, and admissions staff that it can rub the wrong way. Do you do other community service?</p>
