I have a 3.2-3.3 (weighted) GPA with a 28 ACT. However, I do go to a rigorous high school (ranked 19th in the nation by USNews) and will receive the IB Diploma. I participate in many activities/volunteering with multiple leadership roles, for example editor of the yearbook and president of 2 clubs, one of which I founded. My Dad is a UW-Madison alum along with a couple of my cousins and uncles/aunts. I live in Virginia so I would be an out of state student. I am really passionate about going to this school and am hoping to get an interview so that it is more apparent. Lastly I will have 2 teacher recommendations, 1 counselor recommendation, and 1 recommendation from my IB Diploma coordinator. What are my chances?

Seems like a done deal to me. I say you’re in! Did you apply yet? My D has applied and been accepted to 5 schools so far. The replies are coming back quickly right now. One of them is a UW school and her GPA is same unweighted and has a 25 ACT. I realize Madison is harder to get into but with your ACT, IB diploma and strong EC’s, I don’t see a problem for you to get in.
