I'm going to be a senior this upcoming year, and UW is so far the only University I am considering. But my problem is I don't think I have a good chance.

My GPA is around 3.80

I am a running start student, I am aiming to complete the pre-nursing prerequisites there by the end of my senior year.

My SAT scores is 1290. That was my score without studying. I know FOR SURE I will have to retake it and take some subject test.

I volunteer at the hospital, currently I have about 75 hours. I also have hours from Key Club.

I am in Key Club (3rd year), National Honor Society (1st year), Chinese National Honor Society (1st year), Chinese Club (4th year), Multicultural club (3rd year), Science Olympiad (3rd year), and U-Crew which is a club to help out the incoming freshmans (2nd year).

I am also a Key Club officer, Chinese club officer, and Chinese National Honor Society officer.

Lastly, I've been in the tennis team for 2 years.

I know I don't have a very good chance, but can someone please help me and tell me what else I should do to increase my chances? (other than SAT because... yeah...)

I would recommend for everyone to follow the standard practice of applying to multiple schools in which at least one is a safety. If you don’t, in the chance that you don’t get into the UW, you’ll have nothing to do for a while.

Your GPA and EC’s look great if you’re in-state and still look good if you’re out of state. Since the UW only needs either the SAT or ACT, I recommend you retake the SAT and take the ACT and submit the one that goes to your favor the most unless you did exceptional on both. Of course, write a great personal statement.

@potatomawnster Thank you so much for your help!

I’ve thought about applying to Seattle University, Portland State University and Seattle Pacific University too, so thank you for your concern on that!
