-Rising senior (bilingual asian female)
-4A High school in a suburban area
-From Washington
-Interested in medical field

Class rank:
31 out of 265

SAT:
1st-1510
2nd-1430
**Scores will surely improve to near 2000s (min 1800s) because all I've been doing this summer are mock SATs.

SAT II:
US History 530

APs:
5 or 6 total depending on my senior schedule. I bombed exams for the only two I took during my junior year (Lit and US) but I will get 4s this year.

Volunteer work:
-Elementary School volunteery work (max 30hr)- Basically act as a TA by organizing and preparing materials for next day's lesson. Also, when necessary work with students with coloring, cutting, or whatever else they need help with.
-Piano accompaniment for Sunday services (max 5hr)- Play hymnals during Sunday services. It would count as volunteer work right? Regardless of religious affliation, I voluntarily did it.
-Volunteer at a local art museum- just got accepted so I'll complete a minimum of 40 hours here.
-Also, I've done volunteer work at other places but, they were just one time things. Do admission officers like to see this kind of volunteer work??

ECs:
National Honor Society- all four years
Key Club- all four years
World Affairs Club- 11, 12
FBLA- 11, 12
Letterman Varsity Tennis-10, 11, 12 (Most Improved Award)
Church Youth Group- all four years (served as Secretary, VP, and currently serving as President)

These are all I can think of, but please give honest answers because I really want to know if I will get accepted to UW.

Also, I got 2s on both APUSH and AP English Lit. Should I submit the scores and show that I tried??

Your stats are not close to ivy colleges. Please look for some safety and match colleges.

I know UW is not an Ivy. But considering my stats, what are my chances of getting into UW?

how’s your GPA? since you’re in NHS it should be >3.5?

overall… it’s your SAT. Your ECs are good but numbers still matter…

my friend got in with a low SAT, ~1600 and a ~3.5 GPA.
But she did have 4 APs with 4s and 3 when she applied.

Yeah, what’s your GPA?

UW can be unpredictable when accepting students. So it’s not out of the question. Just don’t forget to look at and apply to the other state schools just in case.

Oh, forgot to put my GPA down…
As of now, it’s 3.78 (unweighted)

Does that increase my chances? Also, if my GPA were to drop by .1 during my senior year would that look bad??

That’s pretty good. Your SAT is the only not so good thing. But you’re planning to raise it, so that’s good too. I’d say you’d have a pretty good chance of getting in. Maybe like 75-80%, because UW is unpredictable.

I knoww. I was so surprised to see who got in last year.
But can you take a guess at what they consider most important?
For example, essays, recs, GPA, test scores…

Are you a graduate? And are you from Washington?

Haha. I’m just gonna be a senior this year, but being a Washingtonian, I’ve known my fair share of huskies.
I’ve heard that they really love ECs and that an amazing essay will make up for bad GPAs. Of course teh GPA and SAT still matter. But they look at you as a whole.

And I’m pretty sure they don’t require recommendations.
