So it's that time of the year when the deadline for college apps is approaching and I was just wondering what was the likelhood that I would be accepted to some of the schools i'm applying to. I'm feeling pretty pessimistic about my chances, so it would also help to hear of some situations in which students with my stats or lower were accepted to these schools.
Stats:
GPA: UW-90.1, W-95.05
Rank: 2nd Decile
-Didn't do so hot during my sophomore year. I got one D and a lot of B's that year; however,
during my Junior and Senior years I've been getting mostly A's and a couple of B's in Honors and AP classes.
SAT: 2000
-CR:620 (not that great, I know) Writing:680 Math:700
-Biology E:690 Math:650 (I really had to take a shit during this test but I still should have done better lol)
EC's
-I've been volunteering with an environmental club in my town for a few years and I help lead events now
-Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Chamber Ensemble
-Officer of a book club at my school
-in the science league
-a couple of other clubs that i don't have a big role in
-a couple of scholastic awards, and a state award for fps (a type of academic competition)

Matches:
-Boston University
-Bucknell
-Lehigh
-Northeastern
-Skidmore
-TCNJ
-NYU (Still don't know if i'm applying because it's so much $$$$$$$$$$$$)

Reaches:
-Brandeis
-Carnegie Mellon (Idk if it's worth applying to because i'm not sure if i have any chance of getting in)
-Emory
-College of William and Mary
-Vassar

Tell me what you think... are these schools too competative for me to have a chance of being accepted into any of them?

@itsajerseything - I agree with you on your matches, and while I wouldn’t call any of them “safeties”, I do think you would be accepted to most of them…you are in the middle 50% with your SAT score easily for all of them. I also agree with your reaches though Brandeis would be the easiest to get into of those, and Vassar the hardest. I would call Vassar a “high reach” and would predict a denial from them for you, but they are all reaches and you could be denied at all of them. The College of William and Mary doesn’t give very good need-based aid, so if you are not a Virginia resident, and cost matters to you, that might be a tough one. If you really want to attend one of those reach schools, then you should apply. My opinion is that a Vassar application is a waste of your money though, but you would have an outside shot at the others (though a D and a lot of Bs on your transcript doesn’t look too good), and if I had to guess, I would say you would be denied at all of those reaches. My only other thought is that in some ways this seems to be quite a random group of colleges. Bucknell has a much different vibe from Vassar for example. I hope you have done some research on what schools would be a fit for you other than just academically.

Think NYU would be more of a reach than a match. For the most part, I agree with the above poster. Getting a D will not look good for universities, especially one like Vassar.

yeah, it’s a pretty random group of colleges i want to apply to and colleges my parents want me to apply to. I still don’t know really what i want to study or what size school i want to go to, but i actually went on tours of most of these schools. I have done research, i’m just indecisive. Thanks fot the input!
