Recommendations:
1) high school councelor (who once told me I have one of the hardest schedules of all his hundreds of students, and names me as one of his most responsible students)
2) soph year math teacher, who is also student gov advisor (many times mention how dedicated I am to work, this one will be a glowing rec)
3) english teacher: B in class, but loves me because im respectful and try hard (at least thats what she thinks hehh), this woman is THE smartest woman i know.
4) my art teacher outside of school: professor at the most respected art institute in china, absolutely adores me =) haha
5) my employer at the computer store: i dont know about this one. if i ask him to write me one he'll just tell me to write to and he'll sign it, but I think 5 might be overkill

Interview:
Cornell hotel school requires an interview (this is my ED choice). i think im a people person and will do well on this.

Others:
I will also send in a porfolio of copies of my artwork, or maybe put them on transparencies
Im a very creative writer and my essays are coming along quite well.

I'm interested in going into business administration, hospitality management, marketing, advertising, public relations, real estate...you get the point

Schools:

ED: Cornell school of hotel admin
rolling (im applying as soon at the school allows me to): u of michigan/ross
university of calgary (i have family in canada)

I might consider emory for ED II if i dont get in cornell

reach: New York University (Stern)
North Carolina-Chapell Hill (Kenan Flagler)
University of Southern California (Marshall)
University of Virginia (McIntire)
McGill
Toronto

poss: University of Texas-Austin (McCombs)
NYU (not stern)

safety: university of maryland college park (smith)

also still researching

inform me my strong and weak points, where i need improvement, what i need to focus on, and my chances at those schools!

thanks!!!

Fist of all: how long did it take you to type all of this? Your SAT in reading seem a little low. you will definetley want to increase those. Your GPA is a bit low too. Your class rank (80 out of 600) is not that good. But I think that your EC's make up for it. Apply to NYU. I don't think taht you will get into Lehigh. But what do I know? With a strong essay and teacher recomendations, you get into your reaches:

New York University (Stern)
North Carolina-Chapell Hill (Kenan Flagler)
University of Southern California (Marshall)
University of Virginia (McIntire)
McGill
Toronto

haha im a fast typer but that took me probably a good half an hour. yeah my gpas been a problem...i have mild ADD and its hard for me to concentrate to do work, but not bad enough that i need medication =)

bumpity bump bump

Rice and WashU are definitely reaches I m not sure about the other 2

I think you'll get into Rice and Washu. I've had friends with similar stats get in.

Mmm.. you have a soph year teacher rec. Most colleges require/prefer 11th-12th grade teachers. You may be able to slide by bc it is your student gov advisor, but perhaps that should be your supplementary rec.

I do hope you're not planning to try and put ALL that onto your apps. I don't know if you've seen all of your apps yet, but they have pretty limited space. Online apps usually have character limits as well that make you be concise. Thus, I doubt you should put all the events you organized for student gov. Consider putting that into the essay/short answer questions. Don't mention honor roll, it's one of those things that are a dime a dozen among competitive schools. As for all your activities relating to Chinese.. I'm not sure if that's necessarily impressive, considering you immigrated when you were 9. If I were an adcom member, I'd be more impressed by stuff you had to put more effort into, ie the volunteering, summer programs, work, than by something that came naturally as a result of living in another country. Just my thoughts. Hope that helps.

Dont expect much IVY luck, you have a shot at many/most pubilc state U's

i dunno. i feel like im not shooting too high with cornell hotel. The people from my school that got in cornell for engineering and other harder to get in colleges were ranked 30th to 40th. ppl that got in nyu (not for art or theater) were ranked like 80-120.

I'd still say Rice and WashU are reaches. But not really high reaches.

Why university of "calgary"? It's a really really young school, only 40 years old. Besides, it's not even one of the top institutions in Canada. You'd be much better off at Mcgill, U of T, Unversity of British Columbia (superb engineering and medical school), and Queen's. Those are the top 4 schools in Canada, plus they are all internationally-renowned (I live next to UBC, so know alot about it). PM me if you've any questions about those schools.
