my chances?

I am currently a Senior from southern California. Here are some of my stats.

ACT Score: 30 comp. (33 math, 27 english, 30 science, 29 reading)

Will take SAT I and SAT II's in Oct/Nov.

AP scores: AP Bio (4), AP World (4), AP Chem (4), AP US (4)

Edit: Joining NWA (Nerds with Attitude) (Math Club) I am Easy E to the X power. Or just Easy E to the X. Pretty comical. The only way to get into the club is if you can solve a rubick's cube in less than 2 minutes. Easy requirements.

Other stuff:
MESA National Champion 8th grade (2nd place)
MESA Regional Champion 9th grade
Honor Roll (9th-12th)
Hispanic

OK, the schools I plan on going to are all pretty local for me. Less than 75 miles from my house. I could never move to far from my family. So here it is.
UCLA
UCSD
UCI
USC
Pomona (Liberal Arts)

What do you guys think my chances are into any of those schools?

There are factors about my school that should be taken into consideration, but I would rather not explain. It has to do with my school district and funding cuts. We only offer 8 non-language AP classes, compared to most high schools which offer at least 12-16. I wish I had went to a better school but it is too late for that now. The opportunities just don't exist here.

Asian right? Male?

And what's with the gangster talk?
Thuggery and NWA? Come on. :)

No, Hispanic Male.

I try to have a sense of humor. NWA, cmon that's hilarious.

Dr. Ray (Dr. Dre)
Isosceles Cubed (Ice Cube)
Easy E (Easy E to the X)
MC squared (MC ren)
DJ yella (don't have parody name yet)

We are just a bunch of Calculus thugs.

But are you going to respond to my chances or not?

In at all the UCs and 'SC. Your stats, your URM status, and your average GPA are more than enough. For Pomona though, you'll have to do better on your SAT IIs. I don't want to be the bearer of false information, but people that get in seriously have next to perfect SAT IIs, and definitely so for SAT II Math IIC. Other than that, all your others are good, despite your lack of "good" ECs.

Since Pomona is ranked 7th in the nation for Liberal Arts I can pretty much tell that it will be the hardest one for me to get into. The academic scores are above my level. I doubt I will get SAT II scores above 700, but since I haven't taken them I don't know. I think I will be taking Math II and US History.

Thanks for your advice.

I think you actually have a very good chance at Pomona. Definitely keep it on your list.

Actually I don't even know if I am going to send the SAT II scores to Pomona. Their testing requirements are either the SAT I plus two SAT II subject tests, or the ACT by itself. I know the SAT is more known, but I believe that my ACT score will be enough. The average is like 31-32 so I am not too far off. I might even take the ACT again to try and reach that score. Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I agree with you; I think your ACT score is good enough to cover all the testing requirements. Your ECs may not be fantastic but I think your race could help you quite a lot. And if you want to make your ECs look better you might want to talk about one of them in an essay (if you think you could do a good job of this).

Also, the school funding cuts shouldn't hurt you at all. Colleges will know about this, and won't hold it against you.

In at all the UCs.
Pomona: Maybe

The highest possible UC GPA is a 4.4 (using core academic classes).

UCLA: match - safe match
UCSD: safety
UCI: safety
USC: match - safe match
Pomona: high match - match

Odd array of schools you have.

Oh yeah your right about the GPA thing, because UC's only allow four honors points to be alloted to your gpa. So then it is a 4.4 maxed out, but 4.58 with normal honors/ap credit. All the schools I picked are primarily due to location. Since I can't get into Cal Tech or Harvey Mudd due to scores, I have decided on these schools which are some of the best in Southern California. They are all less than 75 miles from my house, as well as other family members. If I get into financial troubles I won't be too far away from a place where I could live. That's the main reason, a family safety net.

Besides I could never leave Southern California, its my home. I just love it here. I have been around the country and it is my favorite place. Provo, Utah is a close second though.

That NWA thing is hilarious. If I was an admissions officer, I'd let you in just for that, lol.

Thank you PokerProdigy, its people like you that have the same sense of humor as me and my friends. Isoceles Cubed, lol, funniest thing ever.

Calculus thug.
