Irvine is like a dream school for me, but because of the low SAT score , and lack of community services, i 'm not sure if there is even a chance

Strong in languages but rather weak in math & sciences
tend to take business or foreign languages in college

But there is only 150 seats for the new Business Department, would that be a bad choice if i wanna take business in such a newly open program?

It really depends what you get on the SAT when you retake it.

i'm not really confident on gaining much higher score on SAT
since the one i took in OCT actually dropped, so bad

i know i know, this 1510 is as low as like nothing
but could u plz still kinda chance me?
or tell me which UC i should apply to?

thanks a lot

ucm, ucsc, ucr, ucsb, uci, ucd

apply to those if you want 6.

write a good essay.

You can get in. The average that they list is combining the SAT scores of people that got into Berkeley and LA but decided to list Irvine as a safety with people that were barely (or weren't) UC eligible.

i actually think that my GPA and SAT2 are not bad
but the only worry would definitely be the SAT
and it seems people who applied do have competitive score

and one more question,
how do UCs or (UCI) weight SAT & SAT2?
since i took math2c and chinese, 1500/1600 seems high
but actually the percentile for these 2subjects are rather low
compare me and people who take US history & chem and get the same score, it is so unfair to them

so does the difficulty of the subject matter?

oh, and does UCI use points, cut-off , or something like that?

I'm sure it matters, they don't just add up the numbers.

sat is weighted a lot more than sat2, i doubt they look at sat2 scores much; your sat2 scores are fine but SAT is pretty bad so concentrate on it, nothing much you can do now unless you can study hard for the SAT on dec 2.

I know a kid who had a 1400 SAT score (yes on the new one) but he got into UCI because had a 3.9 GPA (I assume UC weighted)

Personally I find that kind of ridiculous. 1400 is an average of 466 each section. I don't know what this kid did to get in, must have written the best essay ever because I just don't see how a 3.9 GPA makes up for that kind of SAT score but if I have a 3.5 and an 1830 and it doesn't make up for it (according to CC'ers)

Shoefactory:
i absolutely understand my poor score sucks
and even worse is that, i'm not retaking it in Dec, just hoping that next week, i'll get a better score on the NOV one...
but i am taking the DEC ACT though, i have no idea how that will be like
but, it is my last last chance

Little duck:
i do believe there is exception, but just kinda rare
so... are u saying that my 3.72 doesn't help a bit of the 1510?
and unless i write super impressive essay, or else.... no chance?

you have a chance if you improve your SAT, otherwise not really.

wow 1510 out of 1600?

He wouldn't be retaking if that was the case.

OP's GPA and SAT IIs really will carry her/him through at this school. 1510 isn't nearly as bad as I've heard before. I don't know if I've mentioned it here before (I think I have), but I know people that score in the 1600s that get into LA and Berkeley. Try retaking it, but I wouldn't necessarily write Irvine off as a reach at this point.

@vector: what a douche.

Peppers:

that gives me a bit of hope
well, ACT is my one last chance, if i still can't get higher
1510 will be the only score i can bring with me

anyways, still working on personal statement
thanks for your help!
